CUSHIONING

  • Rearfoot Gel cushioning system uses a silicone-based gel for responsive shock absorption on impact.
  • Forefoot Gel cushioning system uses a silicone-based gel for responsive shock absorption on impact.
  • Two Layer Solyte allows for differing foam densities for a gender-specific fit.
MIDSOLE
  • Solyte is an ultra light, top-of-the-line midsole that delivers durable and responsive cushioning.
  • Dynamic DuoMax reduces over pronation by controlling the movement of the foot, leading to a smoother heel to toe transition.
  • Guidance Trusstic System is a lightweight support system that provides additional torsional rigidity.
  • Impact Guidance System (IGS) design creates a smooth and balanced heel-to-toe transition.
  • Full Length Guidance Line is a vertical flex groove that runs from the heel to the forefoot for improved gait efficiency.
UPPER
  • GORE-TEX Upper is waterproof and yet breathable, for comfortable protection during extreme weather conditions.
  • Personal Heel Fit (PHF) uses a two layer memory foam lining in the heel collar to provide an individualized fit.
  • Discrete Eyelets are independently placed to disperse lace tension and enhance comfort.
  • Anti Gravel Tongue is gussetted to prevent debris from entering the shoe.
  • ComforDry Sockliner is made with anti-bacterial material to reduce odor and moisture and provide additional cushioning.
  • Strobel Last with the upper stitched to Solyte 55 Foam, for enhanced cushioning and a moderately soft underfoot feel.
OUTSOLE
  • Trail Specific Outsole on the heel and forefoot uses opposite facing lugs to provide uphill and downhill traction on all types of surfaces.
  • Asics High Abrasion Rubber (AHAR) in the heel is made of carbon rubber for exceptional durability.
  • DuraSponge in the forefoot is made from a blown AHAR compound, for responsive cushioning and flexibility.

Comments: I got this shoe in the summer for XC and because of the GTX it gets very hot and uncomfortable. but in the colder days, winter and rain, the features are nice because my feet and shocks stay dry. good, durable all around running shoe.

Comments: It has a few more features compared to the road GT 2000, making it a water proof hybrid trail shoe. I have not tried other members of the series. Compared to my "GT 2140 trail" which was my all around running shoe in Boulder CO for a year, the toe box height is much lower and the width is at the edge. Not sure how much I am affected by the inner layer. The outsole lugs are the second change I don't like for trail and GTX versions. It slides in low resistance wet surfaces. If you take these out on a rainy day to shop at a grocery store or run on stone pavement or on a rocky trail then you need to be careful.
