Comments: Picked these up on the current (June 2014) special and they are pretty decent. Soft but not bottomless and an overall pleasant run. I don't really think about them. A good trainer but I wouldn't race in them. They are tearing holes in my right achilles, though. Not sure what the deal with that is. The only other shoes I've had that problem with is the zoom elite. Anyway, I'd still recommend them. I run 60-70 mpw at a 6:45-7:15 pace.

Comments: Just tried the excel33 3 and found it was too soft in the cushioning department. Felt like I was loosing rebound energy
From: Huzey

Comments: The first version was almost perfect... but too squishy at faster paces. The second version was almost perfect... but too firm at slower paces (and the upper durability was terrible). I was skeptical of this drastic update, and it definitely has a slightly different fit and ride from the first two, but it's close and it seems to fix the single issue I had with each of the previous versions. I haven't found anything I don't love about this shoe.

Comments: Great shoe. Neutral, light, on the softer side, but not spongey, Nike Free inspired upper, very flexible and the gel is noticeable but not intrusive on the ride. I sized down 1/2 from my normal shoes, but that is more about personal preference, as I go sockless about 25% of the time. I did notice a touch of heel slip, the back is not as "cuppy" as other Asics models. Working these into the rotation, along with my Brooks Pure Cadence and Saucouny Kinvara 4's. Happy purchase.
