  • Rearfoot DNA cushioning gel is a highly viscous liquid that changes to become more or less firm in response to each individual's weight, pace, biomechanics, and running environment.
  • Forefoot DNA cushioning gel is a highly viscous liquid that changes to become more or less firm in response to each individual's weight, pace, biomechanics, and running environment.

MIDSOLE

  • BioMoGo full-length midsole offers resilient cushioning and is made of environment-friendly, biodegradable materials.
  • Diagonal Rollbar (DRB) in the midfoot is made of dual density BioMoGo foam to reduce excess pronation.
  • DRB Accel is a thermoplastic polyurethane unit located in the midfoot for balanced support and torsional rigidity.
  • Stable Pod Configuration is a stable midsole/outsole design that sets the foot up for an efficient, balanced heel-to-toe transition.
  • Caterpillar Crash Pad is a segmented crash pad that flexes with the foot, offering customized cushioning and stability for a smooth heel-to-toe transition.
  • Omega Flex Grooves enhance midsole flexibility without compromising cushioning.
UPPER
  • Element Mesh is a moisture-managing, breathable mesh upper.
  • Synthetic Overlays are strategically located with the purpose of providing a secure fit.

OUTSOLE
  • HPR Plus is a form of high abrasion-resistant rubber and is located in the heel.
  • Blown Rubber is located in the forefoot to provide responsiveness and flexibilty.
  • Flextra rubber in the forefoot is customized in each shoe model to provide adequate flexibility according to a runner's gender and weight.
  • Stable Pod Configuration is a stable midsole/outsole design that sets the foot up for an efficient, balanced heel-to-toe transition.

Comments: I have been looking for a shoe for years that will give me the support my feet need!!!! I have finally found them with this shoe. I was so impressed. I have already purchased 6 pairs

From: Peacho, Seattle, WA, USA. July 29th 2014

Comments: Comfortable. I am able to run forever in these. I have flat feet and weigh 230 so I need well cushioned shoes and these are perfect. I do not find them narrow at all. I wear a 13 in all other brands Nike Asics and these fit in a 13 too. I wish all Brooks would be true to size so I could switch over 100 percent to Brooks. In some other Brooks I need to half size up but can not because there are no 13.5s. So if Brooks keeps making shoes similar sized to Asics and Nike I would be a permanent customer.

Comments: This is my first pair of Brooks and they seem to fit me extremely well. I used to run in Asics GTs as I'm a mild pronator with a medium arch at 150lbs. These feel less clunky and faster with a much better toe-off. The soles in the forefoot do wear out faster than other shoes though. They provide plenty of cushion but have a longer break in period than others. Looking forward to the 5's when they arrive next year!

Comments: I spoke to a Brooks rep in person at a local Fleet Feet opening recently and he said the Ravenna 5 coming in Feb 2014 will go back to the wider toebox as was found in the Ravenna 3.

Comments: I've had every version of the Ravenna. They have always been a great shoe for me, a light weight runner. They fit great without any heel sliding. I must agree with all of the other comments: they seem a little more narrow in the toebox than the previous versions and I've gotten blisters on the lateral aspect of both great toes with runs over 8 miles. I'm thinking about trying the Adrenalines as they boast a wider toebox.
From: Tom, Montgomery, AL

Comments: The Ravenna 4 is a fantastic shoe with a fatal flaw: it's narrow.  I'm currently in the Adrenaline GTS - which is a brilliant shoe - but I wanted a touch less support and a bit more cushioning.  Enter the Ravenna. On paper it was exactly what I was looking for.

The problem (for me, at least) is that it's a touch narrower than the Adrenaline.  Enough so that they caused blisters on both feet.  Not good. If you need a support shoe and have a foot on the narrow side the Ravenna may be perfect for you.  If you have a medium foot like me, proceed with caution.
From: Dave, California

Comments: I find the top of the shoe (laces) press down too hard on the top of your foot. This lock down is not for me.
From: Martin, NJ, US

Comments: I am on my second pair, soon to be starting on a third. I love these shoes - they are a better fit than the 3s, and provide just a bit of support that I need without giving too much (Adrenalines). I am getting a good 400 miles on a pair before I feel the forefoot cushioning get too compressed - haven't seen any unusual sole wearing out. I would like them a bit wider in the toebox, but they don't cause any rubbing or blistering. I've worn them in a marathon and my feet felt great at the end.

Comments: Sole wears out very fast, also shoe runs narrow.
From: Jonathan, Goldsboro, NC, USA

Comments: Wear this shoe along with my Adrenaline 13's. Love the cushioned fast feel! They fit narrower and have a touch more cushion in the heel and forefoot than the Adrenalines. Run 25-30 miles/wk, have flat feet and I am a mild pronator.
