Customer Reviews

Comments: I have found these shoes to be game changers for me. Substantially reduce joint pain from the knees and hips. I have a normal width forefoot and narrow heel. the Kailua fits well with plenty of room in the toe box. The Bondi was really too wide for me. I also like the Stinson. I can get most of a season out of a pair.

Comments: I bought these a few months ago. For the first month, they were wonderful. Supportive, no pain after running, really light and comfortable. Unfortunately, they broke down very fast. I can't even wear them to walk now. Every time I try to go on a trail walk, my calves kill me. I had heard amazing things about these and I have to say, for the money I spent, I'm very disappointed. Going back to my tried and true Brooks Addiction.

Comments: These shoes do not work for me. I took a chance on getting these trail shoes, as I love my Bondi 3's and figured these would be a good replacement as the soles are worn down on my Bondi's. Incidentally, the shoe store said my Bondi 3's would last 500 miles, but it was more like 300. That said, I would have bought them anyway as they are really comfortable. I have narrow feet and these actually were too narrow for me. I loosened up the laces as much as possible, but still experienced rubbing not only on the top part of the shoe, but on the front left. The size was correct for me. Also, these shoes feel like bricks. Really rigid. I walked around the house for several days in them, hoping they would 'break in', but even doing that I wasn't happy about because I don't believe in 'breaking in' shoes. Shoes should feel amazing at first feel. I've always been a believer in that principle. But, I was trying to make these shoes work. They did not. I returned them but now am facing the Bondi 3 reviews where most say those are now made with rigid materials. Gah! Why did Hoka change their shoe to now be like all the others? The whole reason I bought the Bondi 3's were the cloud-like feel that lasted for 300 miles. I doubt I can use the store credit on any Hoka shoe now.

Comments: love running in these shoes. I got the same size I always do in running shoes and they fit perfectly. It is nice to run and not have your feet hurt.

Comments: We were extremely pleased with the performance of the Kailua. It's a lighter weight version of former Hoka trail shoes. It is a perfect match for someone looking for a cushy shoe without quite as much bulk, that should appeal to an even greater group of runners.

Comments: I've been running trails in the Mafate 2 (unisex) and bought the Kailua so I could have a shoe specifically for a woman's foot. Honestly, they are very comfy as you would expect, but more narrow than I like. Thus, I recommend them for flatter trails and even road work, but for my long runs on varied terrain that includes rocks, roots and lots of scramble I will stick to the Mafates for the wider footbed and surface area for landing safely and interior foot movement. Overall, Hokas are incredible shoes. I won't run in anything else after discovering them last year.
