Customer Reviews

Comments: Okay, I've done approximately 100 more miles since my first review and here's my verdict: Still a great shoe in my opinion howvere, ut does have afew problems. For one, the blueish gray rubber near the ball of the foot and on the toe area is much softer than the black vibram rubber and as such wear out much more rapidly. My one itself came with an issue with the rubber actually being very low when I got it, a manufacturing error I suspect. However, the rubber is still holding out, albeit barely, but it's holding and, honestly, this minor problem doesn't detract from how good this shoe is. You can push the tempo at any time due to it's weight and, when you feel tired or go long, it gives you the perfect amount of cushioning. However, the arches are a hassle in the beginning, particularly in long runs but, after some time, you get used to it. Otherwise, great shoe, would buy again.

Comments: I've been on one 6 miler and a three miler so far in these shoes and they have performed relatively well. These shoes are meant for runners who are experienced at running in minimalist or low cushion, low drop shoes, so they may take a few weeks to adjust into. They dont't feel at all clunky for me however, my feet feel very comfortable and I feel as though every pace is quick but, this shoe works your muscles, particularly less used ones, waaay more. The sole shows minimal wear except a minor amount on the blue rubber under the ball of the foot but that is to be expected since i strike forefoot first. The arch is built up a bit but, it helps on longer runs so, overall, I'd give this shoe a 4.5/5 on a 1-5 scale, although they could soften up the cushion or add removable insoles in the next version but its no major issue.

Comments: Wore these shoes for one run and was so sore and beat up the rest of the day I sent them back. I ran on a paved trail (these shoes are meant for pavement) and they felt extremely firm without any cushioning despite there being a thick-ish mid-sole. I didn't particularly notice the arch as other reviews have claimed, but the shoe felt so awful I wouldn't rule it out. The toe boxes aren't nearly as wide as previous Merrel shoes (I have run hundreds of miles in the Trail Glove and Ascend Glove) so my feet felt pinched. I have done a ton of running in the Altra Lone Peak 1.5 and they are a much softer ride with more room in the toes. I was hoping these shoes would be a faster feeling trail shoe with wide toes and zero drop, but I felt slow and clunky. Thank you RunningWarehouse for allowing me to run in them and return them, I would have been stuck with a worthless pair of shoes.

Comments: Lisa is right allthough i don`t really mind the arch build up, it is kind of soft also. I sold my size 10 and had to go for 10,5 by the way. 10 in Bare Access.

Comments: This would be a great zero drop shoe if not for the built up arch. I'll stick with Altra from now on.

Comments: Great shoe.. Very happy with it. Light, well made, very versatile, just a very good light shoe for long runs and speed training/ races A bit firmer and not as mushy as Virrata, and much more connected to the ground compared to Kinvara. Cant speak of durability yet, but had issues with Bare Access on that. This shoe is a very easy transition shoe for those who are keen on lower drop. I am very used to zero drop and very minimal shoes, so to me it is almost a bit too much protection. Size is as expected, maybe a hair smaller than Bare Access 3. But i wear the same size. A great buy!
