Pick up the pace in the Mizuno Wave Ekiden. A carryover from the Japanese market, this road racing shoe offers increased durability and a bit more cushioning. A lightweight Wave plate in the heel helps disperse shock, and sticky rubber provides excellent traction, all at a scant sub 5oz. A great choice for your next 5-10k, or as a lightweight and minimal training shoe.

Sizing Note: Men's sizes only. Women should subtract 1.5 sizes from their women's shoe size. Example: Women's 8 equals size 6.5 for this shoe.

Comments: Red and black shoes are different! I like very much these shoes. So much that I bought the red ones first, and a month after I got the black ones. The red has internally a piece of cloth on the tip of the shoes. That protects against classic early tear because your big toe pressure. But the black shoes don't have the piece of cloth. After about 50 miles the black shoes start to show signs of early wear. The red ones after about 70 miles still look in good condition. I would recommend the red shoes but not the black ones.

Comments: I ordered these Sunday and they were here Wednesday for my Wednesday night 5k park races. I had purchase Adidas adizero feather shoes last year and posted a few new PR's. After running in these Mizuno Wave Ekiden, I love them. Super light so nothing holding you back. I even beat the 2 previous week races that I had the Adidas feathers on. I always ran in heavier training type shoes but these have shined a new light on racing.

Comments: Hands down the Ekiden is my all-time favorite running shoe. 100% of my running (LD and SD) is in flats, both on and off road. These replaced my long-time favoriteˆNike Katana Rac3r's, and surpassed them. Just purchased my second pair, the 2014 (black). my 2013's are still going strong though. No idea what the soles are made from but the black part barely shows wear after 120mi, and I'm 200lbs. On paper, I shouldn't even be anywhere near these shoes.

Comments: I train in zero drop shoes, do long runs in Brooks PureProject shoes, and I wear A LOT of super lightweight flats (NB MRC 5000, 1600, Adidas Hagio, Inov-8 Road-X 155, Bare-X 150, Mizuno Wave Universe). I find the Wave Ekiden to be extremely well-rounded and versatile for a lightweight flat. Taking Shoefitr's 1/2 size down advice, the fit was spot on. I've run a couple road races in them, and I've used them for quite a few speed workouts on the roads and track. It's all the speed and lithe comfort of the Wave Universe or the MRC 5000 with better grip, durability, and ground feel than the Hagio or MRC 1600. 5k, yes. 10k, yes. 1/2 Marathon, yes. Full Marathon... potentially, yes. For the record, I'm a male, 5'7", 138 lbs, midfoot striker, cadence = 200.

Comments: As a lifelong Adidas guy I was tentative about trying anything else when looking to replace my Hagios which is a great shoe for going fast ( From: Scott, Ottawa, ON, Canada

Comments: I really wanted to like this shoe, the fit was perfect for me. The problem is some strange "crinkle wrap" built into the toe box of the shoe which produces the most annoying sound when moving -- like someone constantly wadding up an old Frito's bag. I've purchased close to a dozen pair of shoes over two years from Running Warehouse, they are the best internet mail order service I've ever with dealt with and they will continue to be my primary source for all my running kit.
