Customer Reviews

Comments: Pretty incredible shoe. So light you barely feel them, yet has more cushioning than something like the Merrell Vapor Glove, which somehow weigh twice as much. Would be well worth the effort to strengthen feet and legs with balancing and core exercises to experience the feeling of running in these shoes. I wear a 9.5 in the Mizuno Evo Curcoris with plenty of room in the toes, but had to go with a size 10 in these to feel comfortable in the toes. Not only did Running Warehouse exchange the 9.5's to 10's with no questions, but the price had dropped $13 between my original order and the exchange, and they refunded this difference without me asking. Exceptional customer service!

Comments: i spent 2 years transitioning to minimal with newtons, then went to full on new balance minimus zeros, great shoe. i decided to check out racing flats as a way to run minimal, and even though these had a 2mm drop (i prefer zero), these were so tempting i tried them. well, they were indeed MORE minimal than even the minimalist standard, the NB zeros. i could tell immediately by more work done by my achilles and calves...midrun to end run i could clearly feel my core, torso and stomach working even more so than in the NB zeros, meaning my entire body was being brought further into my run than ever before. the end result was a definitely more minimal run with these than even 'minimalist' shoes, and good ones like the NB minimus. i can't fault the minimus, but i am amazed at how superiour these are as a minimal trainer (i go 65 min on concrete and asphalt...yes, the hold up well!) if you want to go further into minimal training territory. NO, i have never run in 3mm ultra minimal shoes, and i don't think i would want to...maybe i'll try that some day. but short of that, or running barefoot, these ultralight shoes are the best minimal trainers i've ever used. as for racing, i can only imagine how superb they'd be. NOTE: i do like/prefer a zero drop shoe, and while i wasn't hitting on my heel in these, the heel would 'kiss' or lightly touch the ground after i came down with each impact, but still i did not want it. maybe my form wasn't as pure as i thought, but i went out and got a drywall block and sanded the heel area down a couple of millimeters and had the 'kiss' disappear.

Comments: I have never ran in Mizuno's before and tried these shoes out and loved them. I run alot and decided to try something new. I had the chance to buy these interesting looking shoes and had found that, they felt and ran great! I noticed personally while running a Ragnar that they didn't have that much grip and traction going up gravel roads, but found it was excellent on the roads! I love the style of this light weight shoe, its unique with the numbers! To cut to the chase, I plan on wearing them on my upcoming Ragnar in August, because they are awesome! (I don't think that they will last real long because of the thin soul, but if your looking for a quick shoe for a PR race, get them because they are light and quick!)

Comments: I love the 5. Been wearing the MWU's for full marathons since the 3's. I just ran the Boston Marathon 2014 in the 5's. Wouldn't run without them.

Comments: I ran in one 10k in these and the upper tore where the sole meets the upper. I could have had a bad pair but I would not recommend these if you plan on running in them more than once.

Comments: I've been running in the Universe since the 2 and this is by far the best of them all. For as lightweight as it is, it provides ample support and tremendous shock absorption while remaining ultra flexible. Grip is similar to the 4, which is far better than one would believe by only looking at the tread design. I've used the 5 on both roads and trails and it has performed masterfully. It has also worked well on hot road conditions, with my longest run in them being 16 miles. Pavement heat effect is pretty similar to the 4. Sizing runs pretty true to former Universe models. This is a very exciting shoe!
