Offering a touch of stability, the adidas adizero Aegis 3 is a protective performance trainer that pushes you to pick up the pace.
The Aegis 3 is one of the more responsive shoes in its category, offering plenty of energy return for a smooth ride that feels like it’s pushing you forward on toe-off. That’s not to say the shoe isn’t protective – the cushioning underfoot feels more than ample for high mileage training, aided by a massive decoupled heel that disperses impact forces upon footstrike.
Our testers had plenty to love about the Aegis 3’s upper. The welded overlays make for a flexible and seamless environment that moves with the foot and offers an irritation-free experience while running. A snug fit throughout gives the shoe a secure, performance fit.
The Aegis 3 achieves support without the presence of a traditional medial post; rather, an increased medial midsole height is utilized to combat overpronation. As such, don’t expect extreme amounts of stability in this shoe – the Aegis 3 is best reserved for slight overpronators, or for neutral runners looking for a little extra structure to bring on longer runs.
The arch was too high for me, but that’s my only knock on an otherwise fantastic and speedy shoe.”
“Despite being in the 8 oz range, this shoe runs as if it were 6 or 7 oz. It makes you want to pick up the pace.”
“As a moderate overpronator, I didn’t feel the support I would need for longer runs in the Aegis 3. The stability in this shoe is definitely mild.”
