Short Take

The Inov-8 Road-X Lite 155 is a low-profile, nimble, and minimal design that retains a bit of impact protection for runners seeking road feel without the excessive pounding.

Big Features

• Low Platform: 10mm stack height in the heel and 6mm in the forefoot? This is one of the lowest shoes available that still boasts a 4mm heel-to-toe offset.
• Flexible Mesh Upper: The limited use of overlays and thin upper material make it very flexible for a conforming and non-constricting fit.
• Light Weight: In case you were wondering, the 155 in this shoe’s name refers to its weight in grams, which converts to about 6 ounces.

Road Test

For a shoe with so little underfoot, our testers were surprised to find a decent amount of cushioning and protection from the ground below. This is due to the use of injected EVA material, which feels denser and more rubber-like than traditional midsole foams. The result: a ride softer than the stack height would imply, and less of a beating from the hard road below. That said, this is not a shoe for heelstriking over long distances. The 155 is still a very firm shoe in comparison to a traditionally cushioned trainer.

The 155 is built on a curved last, which caused some testers to feel their forefoot pressed against the lateral side of the upper. Our testers did, however, like the roomy toebox, which could fit a wider forefoot. A snugger fit through the laces and around the heel minimized any slippage within the shoe, resulting in a secure feel. Like many Inov-8 offerings, the 155 runs long; we suggest sizing down half a size.

One of Inov-8’s lightest and lowest road offerings, the 155 boasts a nimble and very close to the road feel, but with a bit of cushioning perfect for the runner looking for a lightweight racer with a touch of touch of protection.
