The Altra Lone Peak is well-built for its purpose: tackling rocky mountain terrain. It has a 0mm drop from heel to forefoot, but where so many 0 drop shoes feel thin and flimsy, the Lone Peak breaks the mold as one tough trail shoe. A fairly low-profile midsole runs full-length for a resilient ride, and a flexible rock plate keeps feet safe from stone bruising. The tough outsole includes multi-direction lugs and a heel rudder to navigate you through steep and rocky terrain. So if you're looking for a natural, 0 drop ride, but still want protection from rough terrain, this is the shoe for you.

Of all the "minimal" shoes out there, the Altra Adam truly deserves the title. With only 4 mm of shoe under your foot, and a 0 mm heel-to-toe drop, the only thing closer to being barefoot than this is, well, being barefoot. The Adam brings you low and level to the ground, encouraging midfoot and forefoot striking, and allowing you to feel the ground every step of the way. Two removable insoles give you the option of adding a tad more protection or a bit of underfoot cushion.
