Customer Reviews

Comments: Love this shoe. Toe box room is great. Had to size down from my usual 10 to a 9.5. Since wearing these with the big toebox, I don't like wearing any of my other shoes. I plan on running in these for my hundred miler next month ( I've been running in these for 2 months now ).

Comments: I have been struggling to find a shoe I like since 2008-2009 when Adidas was coming out with racing flats with names like CS, RC etc left and right. They were all great, then nothing good from them since and I have had no brand loyalty since. I have been switching constantly trying to find a shoe I can enjoy and just focus on running with not the shoe itself. This is my second Altra. I started with The Instinct but found it a bit too bulky, but liked the brand enough to give it another go with The One. I think it is the one. Great firm ride with ample cushioning while still being light and low to the ground.

Comments: It's a good shoe. It's much lighter than the Instict, which is Altra's daily trainer. Unfortuantely, I don't think it will have quite the durability of the instinct, as I can see the rubber wearing down at 260. Getting to 400 miles on them might be a stretch. Conversely, I reached over 500 miles on the Instict without issue.

Comments: I love Altra Shoes, and have run in the Instinct 1.5s both for distance and CrossFit. I wear an 11.5 in the 1.5s and ordered these in the same size. Unfortunately, they felt like 11s with barely any toe room. Also, it felt like there was a bump underneath the ball of the foot, which I believed would be annoying and very uncomfortable with any runs.

Comments: I didn't want to like these ugly clown shoes, and had every intention of returning them, but now they are my go-to shoe. Once you get the tension in the laces right, the shoes stay out of the way completely and let your feet do their job. The spacious toe box is pure joy. Thought I would add that I wear a half size up (9.5, my normal size) in The One versus the Merrell Road Glove (9), in contrast to the other reviewer. Be sure to use shoefitr!

Comments: This shoe is just right, not too much cushion and not too little, right between firm and soft. It has been awhile since a shoe has felt like it just disappeared on my feet. The One is very comfortable with good traction in dry and wet conditions. I wear a size 11 in this shoe and it is comparable to a size 11 in a Merrell Road Glove and the couple of Inov-8 shoes I wear in a size 11. I wear an 11.5 in the original Altra Instinct so you will have to size down at least a 1/2 size from that shoe. My only complaint is I wish it was 1-2 oz lighter as most of my other shoes are around 6 oz which I think is the perfect shoe weight, and these weigh in a little heavier. I plan to use The One for all of my training and racing over 10k. For my 5k, 10k races, and speed work I will be using the Inov-8 Road-X-treme 138 which comes in at 5 oz with a similar fit to The One but it is a bit firmer.
