Comments: After reading their literature I was interested to try this.  First test run was a 56 mile bike ride with over 6000' of climbing, which I finished in a little under 4 hours.  According to the marketing and research team at Hammer, I mixed a 4-hour bottle (a full 6 scoops, or 3 servings) and sipped it every 15-20 minutes for the duration of the ride.  I supplemented this with water and took one Hammer gel with 25 mg of caffeine at 2:45 into the ride.  The result of this ride is the fact that although this produce did provide slow, sustained energy over the course of the ride, I felt my muscles and system begging for something more and I didn't perform up to my potential. Upon further research, after the fact, I have learned that the idea of "sustained energy" is a myth and that utilizing complex carbohydrates, such as the ones in this product, is what leads to the body craving something more, in a word, more simple sugars that the working muscles can utilize.  The advantage to this product is the protein included which did help with my recovery after the ride, however, Accelerade also has some protein along with the simple sugars that the body needs while at work.  Another drawback of Perpetuem is the taste, it's horrible and impossible to keep cold over a 4 hour ride (thankfully I was able to stop and add ice at 2:45).  I don't think I'll use this product again, Accelerade is a better choice for activity over 2 hours where some protein would be beneficial.  For shorter workouts, I prefer Ironman Perform as a better choice.
