Comments: Finally I found a vest that works for me both in fit and function and never would have guessed an older more basic vest would work versus the two I recently returned. I'm training for a 50K in the the Fall and have been carrying a handheld most of the summer but the past two 3 plus hour runs convinced me I need something more for my hydration needs. I have already tried some newer vests: The Salomon S Lab Ultra Sense Set was just not a great fit and decided I needed a unit with a bladder not the soft bottles up front. I also tried one of the newer Nathan packs, the Nathan Vapor Air Hydration Pack 2L. I did not like the Vapor Air at all. IMO, there are way to many straps and I could not get it to fit well and with a full bladder it bounced around like crazy. Returned that one as well and then read all the great reviews about the HPL #020. Was skeptical because having just returned a newer Nathan pack did not know if an older model would work for me or anything for that matter! I tested this out on a short 6 mile run this morning and I have to say what a pleasant surprise!!! This pack was easy to adjust with fewer straps than the others and with a full 2L in the back it did not bounce around at all! It is small. lightweight, and easy to adjust. It will also handle a 20 ounce bottle in the right front pocket with a nice zippered pocket in the left side for a phone, gels, salt tabs, etc......Cannot wait to use this weekend for my 20 Miler! One other thing is that in reading the reviews I kept seeing how others have said that the Bladder would slide off the hook and fall to the bottom? Well Nathan must of redesigned this as the Bladder attaches via the velcro strap that comes with the newer Vapor Air model so no worries there. All in all a fantastic pack at a great price!

Comments: I took a chance on an Ultimate pack and it just wasn't for me. Didn't fit right and storage was not in the places I'd prefer. The woman I spoke to on the phone in RW customer service suggested this pack. I'm am eternally grateful for her help. If I was to design my "perfect pack" this would be it. Fit is spot on, I forget I'm wearing it. Just the right amount of storage and pockets in all the right places. The pics on the site don't do it justice. It appeared to me that it was going to be rather big and bulky. Having never seen one in person, up close I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Very compact and lightweight. Excellent price and as always excellent customer service.

Comments: I purchased this pack in June, and quickly started to wonder how I ever got along without it. It's essential for long hot runs on trails or roads. I load it up with ice and water and it keeps the fluids cold 4x longer than a handheld. Plenty of storage and comfortable to run with. I second the advice about not wearing it too tight, and also am not a fan of the bite valve. That's the only real negative. Great pack, and I'll buy another when this one wears out.

Comments: I purchased this vest in preparation for my first full marathon. Training during an Iowa summer is no joke, and I wore it for every training run. So comfortable I opted to wear it during my marathon. No chaffing ever. Front pockets carried a 20 oz water bottle for my training partner, other front pocket carried Gu. Back pocket carried iphone5 and car keys. CANT MISS product.

Comments: I've had my Nathan HPL 020 for a number of years now and I consider it the standard by which all other hydration packs should be measured. It's no-frills, simple and it works. As others have commented, the biggest mistake people make with this is they wear it too tight. It's meant to be worn like a gentile hug: snug but not too tight. The pack really will move with you if you wear it that way. I have to replace the bladder once a year, but that would be true of any hydration pack. My only complaint is the bite valve, which I simply don't like (personal preference). When I replace the bladder I simply cut the old valve off and swap it with a Camelbak Big Bite Valve, which I like way more.

Comments: I've had a few vests over the last 13 years, however the Nathan HPL 020 is the best one of them all. I love the pockets in the front, as I have always had issues with the reach-around aspect of many of the other brands. The one thing you need to avoid is wearing this vest too tight, as I see many people do. It is made to move with you! Very comfortable, even with my light build and 2L of H2O.
