Customer Reviews

Comments: I'd like to say that although I didnt buy this shoe in my size from RW, I just got it and would like to add my finding. Wow. finally a shoe that fits my tall, slender, flexibly flat foot. BUT, given its slight stability support as a beefier racer/trainer, and coming from the 2160 and various other other, I find this to be a HARD-soled shoe. And being a tall and fit 205ish I really have grown to LOVE that softer ride. For this shoe just tapping the shoe on an old hard wood floor while sitting, feels like wood, it's just THAT dense. I didnt expect it to be cushy, or as firm, but with the overpronation-gel cushioning in heel maybe that will help with the ride as well as some natural breaking in. Onto the fit more, I assume at this point Im more narrow footed than what's broadly considered medium width. This shoe is noticeably more slim all throughout than the 2160s and for me thats a great find, because it seems those are slightly medium by general comparison. I wanted to find a slightly forgiving toe box height/upper throughout. I say that because I wear extra sole support in one shoe, and find this lean shoe to be amply customizeable for some of that extra. This shoe seems to have its own mind and identity, and I like that; where as others dont. -Also the lacing is LOCK-TGHT, unlike the 2160, with a fantastic lock on my heel from the heel clutching; a superb system. Also without fail, a realistic-semi curved lacing system, WOW did I dislike those Kayano 17's lacing, and overall fit/ride. AND a step up from the Gt?? More like step-family in my opinion, but that's another story. All in all Ive given this shoe generous praise and credit just based on fit. I would like to see a softer sole somewhere but am accepting this shoe for what it is, and will do for me. Asics, you just turned back an open, yet unenthused person, at the going rate, and quite unexpectedly. Keep your athletes in the drawing room.

Comments: The good: Gel cushioning. Semi offset lacing. The bad: "heel clutch" design isn't enough to cover up the poor fitting heel design Asics has trademarked recently.
