The Foundation 8 continues to deliver excellent pronation control at a relative bargain price. A redesigned post and wider base control the foot, but the ride is just as smooth. introduction
The Gel-Foundation 8 is a moderate featured shoe engineered for severe overpronators. This bargain shoe is designed to support high mileage or larger runners and has a semi-curved shape.

cushioning
Rearfoot Gel cushioning system is a medium sized silicone based gel that attenuates shock during impact. Forefoot Gel cushioning system is a silicone based gel that attenuates shock during toe-off.

midsole

SpEVA is a full length midsole material and is Asics' mid-level midsole. Although SpEVA is not as durable and lightweight as Solyte, it has increased energy return compared to that of compression molded EVA.
DuoMax Support System extends from the heel to the medial midfoot and is a dual density midsole that is designed to reduce excess pronation.
Trusstic System is located at the bottom of the midsole and is made from thermal plastic. It reduces the weight of the sole while decreasing torsion between the rearfoot and forefoot.

Open mesh encompasses the majority of the upper and offers breathability to keep the foot cool.
Asics logo is located at both the medial and lateral sides of the upper to keep the shoe snug to the foot.
Personal Heel Fit (PHF) is a two layer memory foam lining in the heel collar which creates a personalized fit.
ComforDry Sockliner is made from an anti-bacterial material that not only reduces odor and moisture but also provides additional cushioning.
Solyte 65 Last is located in the rear portion of the shoe and has a high density to deliver the least soft feel under the foot. Traditional strobel last completes the forefoot of the shoe.

Asics High Abrasion Rubber (AHAR) is located in the heel and is a carbon rubber that offers exceptional durability. DuraSponge is located in the forefoot and is a blown AHAR compound that delivers cushioning, responsiveness, and flexibility.

Comments: I've tried the Asics Gel Revolution and they were narrow in the toe box, which led me to the Gel Foundation 8. My Foundation 8's have well over 350 miles on them. I have put these through rain, mud runs, ponds, etc. I have had no issues. I have flat feet and have experienced not problem with these running shoes. I am anxious to buy another pair or wait a little while for the Foundation 9.

Comments: I also found this shoe to be soft compared with the Gel-MCs that I have been wearing for years. The fit is great, however, and so far I have had no problems. The snug heel and big round toe box is a great combination for me and my foot does not get crowded or hot on long runs. They are also much lighter than the MCs, so I might split my running time between the two, using the Foundations when racing or just occasionally to mix things up. I don't think they come near the MCs is overall support however. Not many shoes could!

Comments: I tried a few brands of shoe and found a lot of the others too rigid and a bit heavier, these fit well, feel strong and are quite lite. Would consider buying again.

Comments: At first I thought that these shoes were too soft for me. The fit is similar to the 2130. The more I wore them the better I liked them. I am a big guy at 6 feet and 230 lbs, but these shoes control my over-pronation just fine. I tried the current Evolution but it is much too narrow for me. I will buy another pair of the Foundations.

Comments: This shoe is great. I use these shoes for walking, running, and interval training. I have never had a more comfortable running shoe. I wear an 11.5 2E and the shoes I bought fit perfectly. They don't fit tightly like some of the Nike and Adidas shoes. The biggest plus with this shoe is that there aren't any hard plastic points rubbing against any part of my foot. My old NB shoes rubbed against my little toe. It rubbed so much that I didn't realize how badly I was being affected until I couldn't run for 3 weeks and had to have cortisone shots in that area. I replaced the standard insoles with a good set of replacement insoles due to my personal preference for them. I give this shoe 5 stars.
