Customer Reviews

The Good: This is an amazing shoe. Very comfortable right out of the box with no break-in required. First run was a half marathon difficult trail run with steep and varied terrain. Grip was excellent, laces stayed tied and in place. Tongue is comfortable with no pressure from the laces being felt when descending on the steep downhills. The North Face puts quality insoles in their shoes so for me there was no need to put in another manufacturer's insole. The cushion and support is there. I have run in TNF Single Track for several years and the Ultra Guide is comparable yet feels lighter and the heel more snug. Durabilty with TNF Single Track was incredible and I expect these to last a long time as well.

The Bad: They do not offer widths in this shoe and it felt a little snug in the toe box (I'm not sure why manufacturers still design shoes with a pointed toe box). Padding in the heel could be more ample (that said there still was no heel slippage which to me is more important than padding). I don't really like the bright yellow color, but it does add some visibility (and it's always nice to be seen by any oncoming mountain bikers or other vehicles). The forefoot protection (TNF calls it a "snake plate") is adequate, but I started feeling the rocks toward the end of the run and would want a little more protection for anything longer than a half marathon.

Overall, I would highly recc. these shoes. Note on Running Warehouse: Excellent prices, love the "shoe fitter", the returns are easy.
