Details:

With a firm ride, the Saucony Profile delivers a good feel for the ground in a light, yet protective package. The 4mm heel-toe offset promotes midfoot to forefoot striking and the no-frills design is in tune with focusing on the run and not the shoe. This shoe is suitable for mid-mileage training.

INTRODUCTION

The Grid Profile is a moderate feature, minimum neutral shoe designed for daily training and high mileage. It is built with a semi-curved shape.

CUSHIONING

  • Non-Visible Grid System provides stable cushioning in the heel.
MIDSOLE
  • Injection Molded EVA foam provides responsive, durable cushioning.
UPPER
  • Open Mesh covers the upper and is a breathable lightweight fabric.
  • Bootie Construction consists of a one-piece, sock-like upper for a soft, comfortable feel.
  • Strobel Last with the upper stitched to full length HRC Strobel Board, for responsive, enhanced cushioning and a soft underfoot feel.
OUTSOLE
  • XT-900 throughout the outsole is a carbon rubber material that offers durable traction.
  • Triangular Lug Design provides traction and additional underfoot cushion.

Comments: I was looking for a good lightweight trainer in navy, and it was between this and the Saucony Lightspeed, which has an all-suede upper. This one won out.

The one-piece upper's heel collar is a very tight squeeze, but the rest of the upper is kinda loose--almost sloppy. It does not bind my feet in any way.

Shoefittr recommended going up a half-size, but I'd say go DOWN a half-size.

The injected EVA midsole feels great--not to soft, and not too firm. Works for fast or for far.

My lower calves did suffer a little because of the mere 4mm drop, but I think I'm recovering quickly..

I am very happy to have so much carbon rubber in the outsole. Take that, Kinvara and Mirage!

The one catch is that one of the cushy insoles was a smaller size than the other. I can definitely see the diff, and feel the diff with my finger inside the shoe. But it's only at the tip of the right insole, and my toes don't reach that far, so no real problem.
