Cushioning in the 769 is provided by ABZORB DTS. ABZORB DTS is located near the sole of the shoe to absorb impact forces and smooth out the heel strike. Also playing a huge part in the cushioning of the 769 is ABZORB. ABZORB is New Balance's top of the line foam material that provides excellent cushioning in the heel and forefoot of the 769.

The midsole of the 769 is composed of ACTEVA LITE, which is a premium lightweight midsole foam with optimal compression-set properties. It is 24% lighter than standard foam. Also in the midsole  of the 769 is New Balance's Stability Web, which minimizes flex and provides lightweight support. TS2 rounds out the midsole. TS2 (transitional support system) is a multi-density medial support that creates a smooth transition from heel to toe-off. It minimizes the amount of movement of the heel and provides optimal support for the heel.

The great comfort and support of the 769 continues with the upper. The PHANTOM LINER provides a seamless liner next to the foot to minimize points of irritation. A Dual Density Collar Foam helps secure the heel and provides comfort. The upper is attached to the midsole with a Full Length ABZORB Strobel Board unit for enhanced cushioning. Adding to the cushion of the 769 is an ABZORB insert. The LIGHTNING DRY Lining ensures moisture management. The performance fit of the 769 is aided by NLOCK for a secure midfoot fit and to even further enhance the fit, the SURE LACE shoe laces are implemented to reduce the chance of unwanted lace loosening. To round out the upper, New Balance adds 360 degrees of reflectivity.

Ndurance rubber is a highly durable outsole material and is located along the lateral side of the 769. Blown Rubber is used in the forefoot to increase cushioning and responsiveness. Flex Grooves are added in the forefoot to aid in a smooth toe-off.
