Brooks Beast 06/07 Men's Shoes Wh/Slv/Gy/Bl Customer feedback

Comments: I purchased a pair of these shoes and they just don't cut it. I'm a big guy... 6' 4" and 200 lbs. The shoe is flimsy compared to New Balance 1010. I've been running for more than 25 years. I've tried all kinds of shoes. I have flat feet and need shoes to help with over pronation. If you're a big person you may want to pass on these shoes.

Comments: I don't no what anybody is talking about- this Brooks Beast is by far the best shoe I ever run in. The cushion is great and the ride is unbelivable. There is plenty of support on my long runs. Maybe I have different needs from a shoe, but i love this Brooks Beast.

Comments: I used the Brooks Beast 06 for two weeks and developed pain in my shins and my calves, something I have never experienced before when running. They also felt very heavy. I switched to the Reebok Control 3 and now it feels like I am running on clouds.

Comments: I am 197 lbs with very flat feet. I need to get Brooks Beast or similar to prevent aches and pains. I got the 06-07 black-grey Beast and I loved it. As I approached the end of its running life, I ordered the blue-white version of the same year, same size/width (11.5 2E) and for some reason immediately I noticed there is less shock-absorption or something. Can it vary by color? :-)

Comments: I injured my arch during a cardio kickboxing session. I purchased arch supports with little benefit. My shoes arrived and with the aid of an ankle/arch compression wrap I was able to continue kickboxing. Within one month my arch pain was completely gone. I highly recommend these shoes. A+++

Comments: I, too, thought this latest version of the Beast was lacking in the support and motion control of previous versions. I've been running in them for years too. It was the ONLY one that allowed this extremely flat-footed and severely over-pronating runner (medium build and weight) to keep up with my normal-arched buddies. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Wish I read this before buying the shoe. Would have perhaps saved me from ten weeks of physical therapy on my knee.

Comments: I have owned 3 pairs of Brooks Beasts before the 07 version. It took less than a week for me to "come down with" injuries. I really don't like the new version. I haven't found another shoe yet that works as well as the old Beasts, but I'll keep looking. These new ones are losers if you overpronate and are over 200 lbs.

Comments: I have been running in the Brooks Beast for about 10 years, this 06/07 Beast is the first time I have felt that the shoe provided inadequate support. I just took my first run in them (five miles) and I had arch pain and they did not feel very supportive. I actually noticed something different when I first tried them on at the store. As a die-hard Beast fan, I purchased them anyway. I wish I hadn't. I'm a large build (200lbs) with a medium-arch.

Comments: I have used the Beast for years, probably gone thru at least 10 pairs by now, as a heavy runner who pronates severly I find them extremely comfortable and have had no problems at all, they work great with or without my orthotics. With other "motion control" shoes my knees would start knocking together towards the end of long runs but I complete marathons with no problems with these shoes. They also have proven very durable, holding up much better than other shoes I have used, making them an excellent buy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Comments: I use Brooks Beast for orthopedic purposes (I have my own insoles). I'm still in physical therapy, and I found the '07 to be bad on my feet. Not understanding any of the details about how this shoe is constructed, I can only say that it *seemed* as if there was less shock absorption. While my feet function (just walking is functioning to me) with minimal pain with the '04 and '05, I developed sore feet after 2-3 days of wearing the '07s. I tried on three separate occasions, and each time they made my feet sore. I especially like the '05 model, there seems to be a little extra padding. I sincerely hope that Brooks understands than not just runners use the Beast, that it is a common recommendation by physical therapists.

Comments: The Brooks Beast 06/07 with the new MOGO was my third pair of Brooks shoes, while my first two pairs were the Adrenaline GTS 6 which I loved. I switched to the Beast from a friends recommendation and interest in the new MOGO. Just as Brian above talked about how the shoes gave him shin splints, I got them too for a while when running in them. I switched back to my GTS's for one run and felt great again. Im fully convinced that the heel is way to stiff in this shoe causing many to have shin issues. The MOGO in the rest of the shoe is ok, however the heel needs some work to cure this pain. Large Build w/ medium arches. (Running Warehouse response: This shoe probably has too much pronation control for Andrew. Generally, the Beast is more appropriate for lower arches and flat feet.)

Comments: This is my third pair of Brooks Beast. I don't like the MoGo sole. It is much too stiff and there is always a weird slapping sound when I run. This model caused me to have pain in my shins. I hoped that this was only temporary but after about 20-25 miles, the shoes are still not broken in. I never had any problems with the previous Beast models (04/05 and 05/06) and was able to run in them immediately after purchase with no break-in period. After a week of running in the 06/07 Beast, I switched back to my 05/06 model and didn't have any pain in my shins. Substance 257 is much more comfortable. Luckily, Runningwarehouse has a surplus of last year's model for cheap. Hopefully, next years Beast will be better or maybe I'll switch to the Addiction. Small build w/low arches. 10K 44:01
