Brooks Glycerin 6 Men's Shoes Leaf/Bk/Sl/Wh D Customer feedback
|
Comments: probably about the best constructed and most cushioning non-air shoe i've run in...nike air has more
cushioning shoes in the all air soles, but their shoes will pop on such innocuous things as a burr on a sidewalk, common near
wildgrass...the only nike air shoes that hold up to the 1/8" needle-like spikes on simple burrs and wild plant seeds are nike trail
shoes (though some like the pegasus trail have a part of the bladder exposed in the middle of the heel)...unfortunately about all
of the nike trails are much less cushioning than their best air shoes, and can't touch the brooks glycerine 6 in terms of
cushioning...the lowly nike alvord is perhaps more cushioning if you consider mushy to be cushioning, but it does bottom out
and not return any energy to your foot...kind of like running in sand...this all said, the brooks glycerin is apparently the most
cushioning shoe out there that will not pop under normal outdoor use...
this entire review may be of no consequence to you unless you are a heavier runner, like me (180) who runs on concrete/asphalt
and has some sort of impact injuries...then a cushion shoe is not just a luxury, but a medical necessity if you wish to continue
running...so the importance of a shoe like the glycerin 6 is immense to those of us who need it...and, likewise, nike has been an
immense letdown for killing the few shoes they make that do offer cushioning and the durability NOT to pop in real world use
(like the discontinued kyotee 2)...what they have left, or have added, are mostly advertising hype that does not deliver (the
ridiculous shox shoes, which offer hard plastic as a style seller, but which is one of the hardest impact running shoe soles out
there)
brooks has done an admirable job with the brooks glycerin 6...a high end shoe that definitely commands respect for achieving
what brooks set out to accomplish with it
