Comments: The Brooks Ghost GTX 2012 is a water resistant version of the Ghost 5. I have run in the Ravenna 2 and 3 and will compare the shoe to those shoes. The Ghost has a waffle sole that should be better on dirt paths and mucky weather. The shoe does not feel heavy and feels fast, though not as nimble or light as the Ravennas. The toe box is bigger than the Ravenna 3 and the heel feels broader as well. The mid sole is firm without much rise on the heel. The upper is very rugged looking and should not show wear. One long term concern is the exposed vertical heel stitching of the water proof liner, coupled with the stitching along the tongue to seal along the lacing. I have not had any issues in a couple uses, but this stitching might annoy some people. This shoe might be hot in warm weather, but should be a winner in cool, wet weather. The Ghost GTX is a beefy, solidly constructed shoe that should make a good choice for the Fall and Winter.
