Comments: WOW! I have been running in these for the past 3 weeks and they are amazing!!! I previously had the Brooks Trailblades which slipped and slid all over the place. These Montrails grip anything! They also feel amazing! After my runs I wash them off and wear them to teach elementary school! They may be the most perfectly fit shoes I have ever had! I ordered my true size. Do not order a half size up!

Comments: I'm a 9.5 in Asics 2160 and used the shoe fit guide which suggested a 10.0. Was way too big. 9.5 would have fit originally. My plantar fascitis has returned after using these, but I can't blame it solely on the shoe. Could be the extra rugged trail runs.

Comments: Background: 5'10" 175lbs male 25-35 miles per week 1:50ish half marathoner with higher arches. My trail runs are typical Arizona with little in the way of mud but rough, with lots rocks. In the past I have run with Salomon XA pro Ultras for the rock plate protection they provide. While I'm still a big fan of that model; for running I wanted something a bit lighter and lower to the ground but would still provide some stone protection. The
Masochist seemed to fit the bill. After a few off road runs, including a 14 mile trail run along the Zane Grey trail near Payson, I am thrilled with the Montrail's performance. I got my normal 10.5 size which fit as advertised, the toe box seems very roomy and there is plenty of support for my higher arches. The stone shield on the Montrails, while perhaps not quite as robust as the XA Pro, is plenty of protection for the very rough trails in Az. Compared to Salomons the Montrails feel a bit more "racy" with the lower heel to forefoot drop. So far I'm a huge fan of the Masochist and highly recommend them. I'll still use the XA Pro's for fast Grand Canyon hikes when I may need a bit more of a substantial shoe but for trail running I'm now a big Montrail fan.
