Comments: This is a very comfortable, light shoe with a surprising amount of cushioning. Fits like the new Adizero Adios, but MUCH softer/more flexible and natural feeling. Unfortunately, that forefoot cushioning packed down to nothing in about 200 miles. I weigh 150 and I am a forefoot/midfoot striker - a heel-striker type runner would not have this problem. If they were cheaper I would buy them again anyway b/c they were so comfortable for the first 100 miles, but not for $100.

Comments: Not happy at all, super narrow toe box..no forefoot cushion.. unstable.. previous model was MUCH better. hopefully new balance will come out with something better cause this design SUCKS.

Comments: Ran the Army Ten Miler in them with no problems. Hoping to run Boston in 2012 in them but need to take them out on a few long runs to make sure they can handle the distance.

Comments: The NB 1400 are a great shoe. I find that they're ideal for any surface at anytime. I run ultras, averaging between 80 to 100 miles a week and I run exclusively on trails. They're light weight, responsive, and provide just enough cushion to get you through the longer 4 to 5 hr sessions. Beware when running through rocky sections or dirt roads, because if you do hit a stone you'll feel it. I was most impressed by the shoes ability to drain and dry so quickly. One can only hope that NB will keep producing this shoe exactly how it is.

Comments: Great shoe if you are looking for a cushioned racing flat. Have tried Nike XC Streak and Streak 3's, Asics Hyperspeed and Tarther, Saucony Kivara...this is my favorite! The heal is well cushioned while the forefoot remains responsive. This shoe did not give me blisters or cause any discomfort whatsoever (have raced a half and have done some speed work in them). Will be my shoe for NYC marathon this fall. Thanks RW for helping me find such a great shoe!

Comments: I tried on Nike, Adidas and others.....this New Balance shoe has support and comfort. Great for running and also for just knocking around....feels like you are almost bare footed. A good shoe for traveling as it packs well. I look at others but always buy New Balance.

Comments: I just tried these on in the NB store and they don't seem to be a "normal running shoe length" but instead are a little short. Didn't have the next size up so I couldn't get another impression.

Comments: This is my new favorite shoe. It feels a lot like the Adizero Adios, but the upper is so much softer (reminds me of the Saucony A4 without the inner strap). Also, it isn't quite a narrow as the Adizero Adios which was a little snug on me. I feel I should buy 10 pair in case New Balance changes anything with these.

Comments: God's gift to runners. Seriously this shoe is like butter. I'm on the lighter side (125) and run 80-110 miles a week and this shoe can handle them all, save for long runs. It's really well cushioned and the seamless upper is amazing. I've never worn these with socks, and never had a problem or got a blister. The one gripe I have is they hold blood really well. My first run in them my toes would scrape on the low toebox and now the forefoot looks like I got shot, but it's all good.

Comments: A great racing shoe! Similar to (but better than) the Saucony Fastwitch 4, and the Asics GT Racer 8. NB1400 hits the sweet spot with a decent heel/toe drop and good cushioning, while remaining very light. The NB1400 is not similar to the Fastwitch 5 in that Saucony ruined a very good shoe by reducing the heel/toe drop to 4mm (Saucony should have kept the higher heel drop in the Fastwitch and just produce a different racer with a different name if they wanted a 'minimalist' racing shoe).
