Comments: The Zero V2s are the shark-toothed, trail grabbing, smooth riding superbly designed shoes I hoped they would be. The outsole is fantastically grippy. It sticks almost miraculously to gnarled rocks, scree, loose dirt, grass, and everything in between. Due to the tall tread, things can get a bit tippy/inversiony when running at extremely fast paces straight down a steep and irregular rocky surface, but in general everything flexes just right and you plant predictably. The lack of a rock plate was a very good design choice. Your foot can actually move with the shoe, and you don't get that awful rigidity and deadness. The tread does plenty to protect you. The midsole is responsive and tuned just right in terms of firmness and responsiveness. The upper is a bit homely and retro, but it buttons you down firmly, breathes very well, and melds nicely into your foot. I do wish these had 4mm of drop, but hey, that's what the 110V2 will be for. In the meantime, if you want a fa st trail carver look no further.
