Comments: After working my way through a second pair of Nike Free 3.0's, I spent some time in Lake Tahoe... so trail running was in.  Free's pick up a lot of rocks and flex inappropriately.  The Kilkenny's firm cushioning and hard sole were excellent on fire roads, technical, hard pack, and sand.  I never ran out of grip, even while "paddling" in sand.  No noticeable heel-toe drop, light, breathable.  The upper may be too thin and the toe box is definitely too "pointy"... but for the price, it's a great shoe.  I wear socks for anything over 5K, so 1/2 size up was correct.

Comments: Ordered the Saucony Kilkenny XC4 from on Monday night.  The shipment arrived first thing Thursday morning.  Excellent! The shoes are absolutely perfect for me.'s description of size, heel-to-toe drop, etc. was spot on.  Truly a website devoted to runners. For those of you who have never run in flat/cross-country shoes, give them a try.  I am an under-pronating, mid-foot striker.  I feel like I am running in quicksand when I wear "normal" running shoes. My previous pair of running shoes was the Nike Zoom Streak XC2.  I loved them while they lasted, but the Streak's wore out pretty quickly due to the thin, soft sole.  At first glance, the Saucony's appear to be more durable.  Time will tell

Comments: Weekly mileage at age 61, 40 mpw for the past 6 months. Currently own 5 pairs of racing shoes, you can never have too many, with the exception of my wife, who has too many. I finally did a 5k race in the Kilkenny XC4 Men's racing flat.  Loved how they felt on my feet in the race, and liked the fit, and weight of them.  My wife also recently purchased a pair from this supplier, and she too raced in them for the first time, and loved the fit and weight.  We are both going to use them in a five miler next weekend in a USATF event.  Then maybe the next weekend in a 10k.
So we both really like this racing shoe!  Also, the price is EXCELLENT for this shoe.
