Comments: Alines worked great for me. Previously, used custom orthotics, superfeet, etc. with various stability and neutral shoes. The pain in my met area was bad enough for me to consider stopping running. The pain was gradually getting worse. Orthotics and stability shoes try to keep your feet from moving in a certain way - basically locking your foot in a position to achieve the desired result. Alines let you foot achieve the correct alignment position naturally without locking your foot in a give position.
I've been using Alines for over two months now and have transitioned from stability shoes to neutral shoes and am running 6+ miles a day pain free. There is an adjustment period, the Aline reps recommended wearing insoles in my street shoes for one week before running in them- good advice. I can't wait to try these in my ski boots.
This simple alignment test showed me: do a deep knee bed and watch to see if your knee caps track over your feet. My left knee tracked significantly inward- probably due to previous ankle injuries from basketball. With custom orthotics in my stability shoes, my knees would track straight over my feet. In neutral shoes with orthotics, my knees would NOT track straight. In any shoes, with Alines, my knees track straight. The Alines let my feet naturally set my knees, legs, etc. in correct alignment position in any shoe. IMHO, good alignment, good chance of eliminating running pain.
