Comments: I have been running in Montrails for 15 plus years, using the MM now for about 6 months. The MM are one of their better shoes IMO. They are comfy right out the of the box and just fit my mid-heel strike running form better than any other shoe tried. They are used for technical trails and some paved trails. The trails around here are full of hills, rocks, and roots and these shoes do well under these conditions. They are true to size.

Comments: Picked the MMII's on liquidation for the occasional trail run and put 4 miles on them already. Very comfortable so far with roomy toe box. I normally train on roads in Mizuno Wave Inspire 7s (currently) and the MMII's felt like they have more cushion. Tread offered plenty of grip for the trails around here - mostly fire or mtn bike trails with light rocks. These shoes fit true to size for me and were very stable on uneven ground. Only had some modest hot spots under the heel on some steep downhills.

Comments: I had the MMI and loved them. Got the MMII and it is pretty much the same shoe, except for they feel a half size bigger than the previous version. I also recommend getting a half size smaller in the MMII than what you had in the MMI to make them fit the same. The fluid post also seems to add a touch bit more support than the smaller posting zone on the MMII. But it's essentially the same shoe.

Comments: This is my review for the Masochist I. Bought the shoe for my long alpine trail runs. The positive: The fit of the shoe is great (at least for my flat, narrow feet): Perfect roomy toe box, the super thick tongue is very comfortable and the lacing lock down the mid foot very well. The damping is very comfortable without being mushy. The negative: The weak outsole. The black rubber quickly came off. Maybe it was caused because I did some hiking on sharp rocks. All in all: Great upper, great fit and great midsole but weak outsole (in traction and durability).

Comments: Had a couple pairs of the originals and have had these for about 100 trail miles, including a 50-miler. First off, if you've experienced the original Mountain Masochists: I can find no differences between the original MM version and this, the MM II. Same everything, except that I sized a half smaller in the MM II. I would suggest a bit more cushion or substantial rock plate in the forefoot, but otherwise, a fantastic shoe that falls between the minimalist and cushion/control genres. Perfect for middle distance (marathons)and longer.
