Nike Zoom Elite+ 6 Product Review

Short Take

A versatile daily trainer with a performance edge, the Nike Zoom Elite+ 6 is a smooth-riding and protective shoe suitable for serious and competitive runners.

Big Updates

  • Improved Midfoot Wrap: The addition of Dynamic Flywire around the midfoot allows you to achieve a more secure and personalized fit.
  • Carryover Tooling: The midsole and outsole both go unchanged in this update, resulting in a ride similar to the previous model.

Road Test

Last year, Nike treated serious runners to the newest interpretation of their Zoom Elite, relaunching a performance trainer that delivered some seriously good running. That shoe receives its first update in the Elite 6, and despite a sweet new look, we’re glad to see that the shoe has received minimal changes in functionality.

This version of the Elite introduces Dynamic Flywire, providing a personalized and secure wrap around the midfoot for a locked-in fit. Testers found this to reduce slipping within the shoe, especially during faster running. The toebox is relatively open, good for runners who like a little extra space up front.

If there’s a standout characteristic of the Elite, it’s the responsive and bouncy ride, a welcome underfoot feel at all paces. The transition is smooth thanks to the full ground contact, and while the shoe favors a mid-to-forefoot landing, the cushioning does allow for heelstriking.

The Elite 6 may not be the lightest shoe out there, but with its fast feeling ride, it runs like a shoe in a lighter weight class. In combination with the high mileage protection underfoot, this makes the Elite 6 a versatile shoe that can handle most anything.

Runners Say

“The Zoom Elite is a great trainer for the competitive or serious runner. It provides excellent protection, yet has a responsive feel that feels great at faster paces.”

“Though not as protective as a Pegasus or Vomero, I felt plenty protected in the Elite 6, even during longer runs.”

“This is a pretty minor update to a solid shoe. The new upper allows for a really secure fit through the midfoot, but otherwise feels very similar to its predecessor.”
