Saucony Fastwitch 6 Product Review

Short Take

A racing shoe built for distances up to the marathon, the Saucony Fastwitch 6 gives you a fast ride with a touch of support.

Big Updates

  • FlexFilm Overlays: Seamless and flexible overlays provide a secure, yet less constrictive fit.
  • Altered Midsole Compound: Though the tooling is unchanged, the midsole compound has been softened for a more cushioned and resilient ride.

Road Test

Though the Fastwitch has long been a popular option as a fast and lightweight shoe that doesn’t scrimp on support, many felt that Saucony missed its mark with version 5. With this latest update, Saucony looks for redemption, and we think this version is a big step in the right direction.

The midsole may appear unchanged at first glance, however Saucony subtly tweaked the midsole composition, resulting in a softer and more resilient ride, as well as a smother transition. Testers appreciated the change, especially over longer distances where firmer cushioning may be undesirable.

Fit-wise, the Fastwitch 6 features an upper that sits close to the foot for reduced slippage during fast running. The shoe never feels overly tight, however, and testers had no problems with blisters or discomfort, even during longer distances.

With a 4mm heel to toe offset, the Fastwitch 6 certainly promotes a fast and efficient run. Combined with balanced cushioning and a bit of support, expect this shoe to be a popular choice for half and full marathon distances.

Runners Say

“This shoe definitely packs a decent amount of support for a racing shoe. Its great for mild overpronators, though I think moderate overpronators might want to save it for race day only.”

“This version is definitely softer than the previous. I think those who thought the Fastwitch 5 was too firm should give version 6 another try.”

“I like this shoe for the half marathon distance. It’s a little less shoe than I’d want for a full marathon, but it can definitely be done.”
