Blending a fast feel with plush and protective cushioning for heavy training, the Saucony Ride 6 is a treat for neutral runners looking for a dependable everyday shoe.
- PowerGrid: The upgraded cushioning tech reduces weight while providing increased longevity and durability.
- Upgraded Sockliner: Saucony’s new custom sockliner better contours the arch for a more tailored step-in feel.
- Higher Toes: A slightly increased toe-spring gives the shoe a more responsive feel as well as a faster silhouette.
- Less Plastic: This version uses a smaller midfoot shank for a smoother ride and reduced weight.
The Ride 6 is Saucony’s go-to trainer for neutral runners. We saw the high mileage trainer take on a lower heel to toe offset in its previous update, and in this newest version, we continue to see the shoe take on a more streamlined ride, while retaining the cushioning and protection you’d expect in a shoe built to handle heavy training.
Like its predecessor, the Ride 6 has a soft underfoot feel that soaks up impacts, though testers did find the forefoot to be slightly more responsive than the previous model. This shoe isn’t the most flexible out there, though increased flex grooves in the forefoot do give the latest version a slight edge over previous iterations for a smoother transition from heel to toe.
Though the upper takes on a sleek new look, aided by a number of bold colorways, testers experienced fit and feel not far off from that of the Ride 5. Thin and flexible overlays give the breathable mesh upper a supportive structure that holds the foot securely without being too tight. The fit is fairly open and will accommodate higher volume feet, though a 2E width will come in handy for those who need it.
“No big changes here. Saucony kept the Ride 6 true to its DNA, and those who liked the previous version will fit right into this one.”
“The Saucony Ride definitely sits on the softer side of the spectrum, which isn’t a bad thing for runners who want to save their legs over long runs and rigorous training.”
“The 8mm drop makes the Ride 6 a versatile shoe, easily allowing any footstrike and rewarding the runner with a silky smooth run.”
