Trail walkingFirst time using a trail running shoe. I have used the Saucony Ride for a very long time while running marathons. I bought the Saucony trail for walking in roads and trails. I find it wider than the Ride, so I needed to adjust the lasses, and they seat a little higher in the ankle than the Ride. Nevertheless, is a good trail shoe, with more cushioning and better grab of road and trail. I recommend this shoe.

Fast if you're fastThese are a wonderful shoe. Plenty of cushion with the PWRRUN and they seem to get better as one runs faster, likely due to the carbon plate. They were too much shoe for me as I'm not fast anymore but made me wish that I was. Grip was on par with other Saucony trail shoes I've run in and that is pretty fantastic. Fit was bit wide for my narrow fit so they had to go back.

Recommend for your quiver of trail shoesI am a big fan of the Saucony Endorphin road shoes, and so I ordered the Edge in the hopes that the fit and feel would be very similar, just with a trail bent. After approximately 60 miles of running and hiking on mostly dry semi-technical trails in Colorado and North Florida, this is largely the case, with just a few reservations: (1) the upper around the mid-foot feels a bit sloppy if you don't lock it down with solid lacing (and/or adjust every 10-12 miles on longer runs). It doesn't appear to affect performance, just the feel and perception, which obviously impacts confidence on steep descents; and (2) it's a harsh(er) ride, especially compared to the plusher trail-shoe options like the Hoka Challenger. It reminds me of the older versions of the Saucony Peregrine, in which I would feel the bottom of my feet begin to ache after about 20 miles of running on hard packed trails. The solution may be as simple as changing out the insert. Other than that, I think it's a pretty nimble shoe, and I feel a bit faster than I do when wearing the Hoka Challenger, for example. I would equate this to the Hoka Torrent, and so it will probably be my go-to on faster technical runs up to about 20 or so miles. For longer distances, I'll likely choose plush comfort over speed.

Saucony Endo Edge69yo, Male, former fulltime runner for over 30 years and racer until age 66. Have had series of injuries and health issues lately so have been running less but have put in about 50 miles so far. The shoe feels great, outstanding cushion, fits accurate to size with a ample shoe box. I havent been running on any technical trails or even much climbing currently but they feel great on flat dirt trails with nice protection from rocks. Havent had any wet dirt to test the 'stickiness" of the substantial lugs. I feel they would be great for anyone running on non technical trails. Again cant give an opinion on tech trails or mud. Because of this I would actually give them a 4.3- 4.5 rating as is. Also at $200 the review might be a bit different. I was able to get these for $120 so for me this is a no brainer buy.

Great shoe with one issue...I love this shoe, it is right next to my Hoka Tekton X as my favoite trail shoes. I'm a big guy (195 pounds and run in the high 8 minute miles on a 10k trail run) and this shoe works very well for me, and I love the color. The only issue I have with the shoe is the same others have noted--there is a change of material at on the big toe part of the shoe where the toe cap overlay meets the upper material and at the 4 to 5 mile mark I start to feel it rubbing on my toe. It has not caused a blister yet (I wear top-quality mid-weight socks) but I think it might if I used it for a 10 miler or longer. Since I planned to use these for my first ultra in January, unless I can find a fix, they won't be in the rotation for that race. I'm going to try some tape and see if that works. Other than that, they were immediately comfortable, grip well, and I love them.

Depends on your definition of trail. The midsole is soooo fun. If you're running on buffed out smooth trails that you could drive an SUV on, then these will be amazing. If you're running on technical trails that only animals could utilize, then they're probably going to be a shade too unstable. My trails are too technical for them so I use them on the road where I prefer them to the Speed 3 for comfort.

Good concept, bad executionI’ve had several pairs of the endorphin pros and loved them. These shoes felt very similar but just not the quality I would hope. The insole kept riding up and the midsole/upper started separating after about 40 miles.

Good Grip but Rough Toe BoxI am an avid runner that logs 50-80 miles a month (down from 75-100 due to age). I was under the impression that these would be awesome shoes, based on my experience with the Endorphin Pro road running shoes, but sadly, they were not what I expected. I purchased these shoes to use during trail races - not for training. Like all my shoes, I like to test them out prior to using the shoes in an actual race. I logged a total of about 25 miles, mostly on a treadmill, and then 10.8 miles at the River, Roots, and Ruts (RRR) trail race at the Caloosahatchee Regional Park in Alva, FL. The shoes caused 3 blood blisters running on the treadmill, and an additional 2 blood blisters at the RRR trail race. The shoes are "true to fit," but I believe the toe box is too rough, which may be the reason for the blood blisters. I returned the shoes and got the Hoka Tecton X (version 2), which I plan to review after further use. I wish you better success with these Endorphin Edge shoes.

Toe-box too Rough on the ToesI replaced a pair of Hoka Tecton X shoes for these, but they are not as I expected when compared to other Saucony shoes over $150, and at $200 I expected comfort and quality. It states online these shoes are "true to size" and I always buy size 10 when I see the "true to size." The shoes arrived and the fit felt proper; however, when testing the shoes on a couple simple trails (in the Fort Myers, FL area), my toes were rubbed at the end of the toe-box to the point of blisters. I tried adjusting the shoe strings to help lessen the movement of my feet in the shoe, but that didn't help. Is it possible that I received a pair of poorly constructed shoes that did not actually get a QC? That may be the case. Regardless, I have to return these shoes because they are not the quality I expected from Saucony.

Great Trail ShoeNeeded a great shoe for the Bataan Death march and this shoe was it! Nice fit, no issues over the terrain and if you've done Bataan you know it challenging with a lot of elevation gain and deep sand. This shoe was perfect for the job!

Great shoeGreat shoe. Ive ran technical and flowy smooth trails in the shoe. The energy return is better of course on the harder pack trails but feels great on all trails. Good traction in mud and loose dirt.

Bought and returnedI've run in Endorpin Pro 1 and 2 and Endorpin Speed 1..both size 12.5. I read these fit a bit big but I ordered my usual 12.5 as I don't mind a slightly larger fit in trail shoes...my 12.5 fit small or at least feel small. I think that's down to the protection around the toe box. It's firm and makes the toebox, while decently wide, feel small once you are moving. Real bummer as they have great reviews. I suspect a more narrow foot or actually sizing up for me to 13 may have helped. I currently trail run in Hoka Zinal or Topo Mt-4 based on how long and/or rugged the terrain is. Upper on these felt great, lockdown was excellent. Maybe they would've broken in after a run or 2 but I didn't want to risk it for such an expensive shoe.

Trail shoe with cushionThese trail shoes have a good amount of cushion that will keep your feet comfortable for those long runs on the trails. The tread gave me great traction on the snowy trails as well. I have a wide foot and these shoes fit my feet great!

So far so good.Love this foam- held up very well in my initial run, but haven't put much mileage on them yet. 1st trail run (1/2 marathon distance) was fun, fast, and grippy. No complaints. Wide toebox, good lockdown (interesting lacing system- works well for me). Expensive, but got them on sale for a little less than a new pair of Speedgoats- I'd put them in the same category, but Edge is faster on the easy trails. I didn't notice much of the carbon plate, but it certainly didn't get in the way.

A good additionI have been running in Saucony shoes for years. Street and trail runs all get done in Saucony. I had used the Exodus but found those to be a bit too wide for my liking. The Endorphin Edge has a more narrow fit which suits me better. It cradles your foot and feels snug while still giving you the room you need for foot flexion. Ironically the Ocean color is the one I chose and the first race in it was a 10K on the sand in Port Aransas, TX. I ended up winning the race. I'm not saying it was the shoes, but they sure did make a huge difference in my run versus the Speedgoat 3 and Exodus I have been using. The lug pattern was perfect in that application. No heel slippage at all. The drop was perfect. They are light enough that your legs don't get fatigued. Overall this shoe is my favorite trail shoe from a fit and comfort perspective. I'll keep using them until Saucony changes the recipe.

Ran 100 Mile Ultra In These & Made Great TimeOnly Improvement I Would Say Is A Thick Tongue; Not More Padding. The Laces Cut Into The Top Of My Feet. I Wore Compress Sport Marathon Socks. No Problems With The Lugs And They Showed No Wear. Were Slippery @ Stream Crossing.

New Staple ShoeI have done several ultras and ran in Hoka, Altra, North Face, Nike, NB....all of which were decent shoes. After my races I always felt like my legs were beat up and really sore. I have run in the Endorphine Pro street shoes since they came out with the first iteration and decided to try these Endorphine Edge shoes for trail running. I ordered them last minute for a trail race I had coming up and against my better judgment I used them in the race without trying them first. Luckily they did extremely well. I ended up taking 1st overall in the 10K and my legs felt as fresh at the end as they did in the beginning. The shoe fit as expected and there is enough cushioning for even a Clydesdale runner like myself at 210. The upper was comfortable and the laces locked the shoe down to where I had no heel slippage. I'm not sure how they will do on a rocky, technical trail, but on the dirt trail I had excellent traction and the lug pattern was more than sufficient. I'll be staying with these for my middle distance trail races.

One of the best trail running shoesBought these for a coming race. Wore them for a test run upon arrival, 35km trails, didn't expect to run as fast as it turned out to be. I'm sure I'd enjoy these more in actual races.

A Great Trail Shoe, sort of.I first ran in these on technical trails in South Carolina. They were fast, comfortable, breathable, fun, and kept my legs feeling fresh; however, they were noticeably unstable and a few times I nearly rolled my ankle. After moving to CT, I now run on less technical trails and they're perfect; no issues with instability. I give three stars because at $200 these shoes should be able to do it all, like the Endorphin Speed for the roads. If these shoes were $150 then 4 stars but the high price and their limitations on technical trails brings the score down. After all, trails tend to be technical more often than not, so by being sketchy on tech terrain the shoe becomes very limited and that's especially disappointing at this price point.

Really Great Trail ShoesI have had in numerous trail shoes including: Hoka Speedgoats, Hoka Mafate, Nike Terra Kiger, Scott Supertrac, and Brooks Cascadia. I would have to say these maybe my favorite so far. I give a close second or a tie with the Mafate's. They are light, very springy, and have a lean forward type of feel. I have heard some people say they might be unstable because of their high stack height. I don't experience that. I have a little bit wider foot than normal and have trouble with Hokas. There was no issue with these at all. In fact, maybe a little bit too much room. So far I am really enjoying these shoes.

Great Performance Trail ShoeThis shoe is perfect for not so technical trails when you want to be a bit more speedier. Great return in energy. Good for mid long distances (10k-25k). As for the NOT FOR SERIOUS TRAILS review. Even a newbie knows not to try any new racing kit the day of a race, especially a 100m. Don't go blaming the shoes for your mistake.

Not for serious trailsI have been running in Endorphin road shoes for quite a while now and enjoy them very much. I was very excited for the Edge. I bought them for a 100 mile race with very technical terrain. They came out right before my race so I didn't have time to test them on a long run. By 30 miles in I was slipping, falling and twisting my ankles. I felt like even though I tied my shoes snuggly, my foot was sliding inside the shoe too much. I had severe foot covering massive blisters, which I do not get ! After getting medical treatment I discovered the treads had completely fallen off the shoe. I had to run past mile 60 with these wrecked shoes to get to my drop bag to change them. By then I was wrecked too. I timed out at mile 81 and blame these shoes for that as I had a comfortable cushion at mile 40 something. I had trained over 6 months and wasted $275 on my race registration. Tread should last more than 30 miles! I was fully reimbursed for the shoe however. These shoes need major reworking.

I dig themAs reference my main ‘go to - do it all' trail shoe has been speedgoat for the last 4 years - I have 50 miles in these, and I am really enjoying them. Good cushion for very long runs with plenty of bounce feel, but light and not bulky feeling. I can't feel the plate much at all, compared to road plated shoes (That's a positive) . I worried about the stability when I ordered them, but I don't find it to be a problem at all, honestly I don't notice it any more than other non plated shoes. The only caution that pops up in my mind when running in them is the grip is a little more sketchy than what I'm used to when things get ugly( rain, wet roots and rocks) but not a deal breaker for me. they are a touch roomy all around, but heel lock is very good despite that and they have broken in to feel great and secure . We will see about durability, no issues yet for me and the fun I have in them is worth it anyway. If you are a self conscious runner, maybe go for the blue or black color as these things are so pink that even the squirrels will stare at you.

No BS serious shoe... but not fun....I'm 51yo, 30-50 mpw, neutral landings, trails only.... with lots of climbing. My reference shoe right now is the NB More 3 which I've been using on trails since Sept '21. The carbon plate and midsole foam drew me in. I take the lacing all the way to the top eyelets - the heel lockdown wasn't super - a bit wiggly. Standing upright, the shoe feels fairly comfy - when I roll my feet outward laterally, my feet don't roll within the shoe. On flats and false uphill flats, the carbon plate seems to possibly give some snappiness to the ride..... as the trails get further into the steeper part of the canyons or hillsides, the carbon plate boggs down, fights my metatarsals and I have to hike. On rough/ gnarly trails, the shoe's plate doesn't flow with the different foot plants I make - the shoe is dominated by a flat, firm plate or plates. For dry semi maintained trails, the knobs are too much. The ride is on top of the chevron shaped knobs, leading to not much ground contact. The heel landing portion on my More 3s is about and 1" wider than the heel landing portion of the Edges. Generally, after about 1 hour of a hilly uphill and technical downhill, I was not enjoying the shoe. The plates in these units don't contribute to performance benefits in hilly / steep or fast downhill technical terrain - the shoe didn't move with my foot. Also, ground contact with shoe is too narrow and minimal. I'm coming from the perspective of a highly cushioned/ comfy road shoe which happens to be working out perfectly on the dirt.

Excellent all around trail shoeI just spent some time on a variety of trails in the Sawtooth Mountains: packed dirt, gravel, gnarly (roots and rocks), soft dirt; steep and moderate. The Edge performed above expectations on all these surfaces and grades. "Above expectations" means, I was running quicker with less effort. Yet to be tested is the lifetime of its responsive performance.

Bouncy trail runners that like speedFit: roomy toe box and true to size lockdown is pretty good, not great, but that's probably because I have a narrow foot and toebox is substantially wider than peregrine. Ride: the shoe's springy ride that works better at pace and uphill for me. But honestly it's just a fun roomy comfortable shoe. I read a few reviewers knocking it's stability on very technical rocky, rooty trails - feels like that is not a totally fair assessment. In my experience most trail runners that do those conditions well don't distance well and leave my legs beaten up when I push the distance. The Edge is a great complement to a low stack, low cushion technical runner like the peregrine, not a substitute. This one is good for fire roads, single track dirt trails, gravel and distance. I cant speak to the upper durability or stretch, because I only have about 35 miles on them -but seems good so far. Breaths really well. I think Saucony did a good job leading the charge of incorporating super foams and carbon plates into trail.
