Working out greatI stick with ASICS.
A great deal of changeThis show changed a lot from last year. As compared from the past model, the foam, rocker, upper, and outsole changed. Basically the whole shoe but with it some of the changes were pretty good.
The cushion is a taller and denser, I wouldn't be surprised if it had a higher drop too. This shoe feels pretty dang comfortable on easy runs, but you really have to push the shoe at pace. The cushion isn't necessarily softer or bouncer, but it is more protective. This causes the shoe to be more rigid and it looses some of its ground feel. After about 100 miles the bounce leaves the shoe but it remains protective.
A very wide base also enables this shoe to be fairly stable.
This shoe has more of a late stage rocker that rolls you foot through your stride smoothly, and you do not have to think about your stride as much as you run.
The upper is supportive and quality, but it is much too thick and if you get it wet it will take multiple days to dry. Heel pillows were nice
Both the past and current model don't have great outsoles but this year I found especially slippery and to thin after about 150 miles and I would still run on dry concrete but nothing wet.
Overall this shoe has transformed to a neutral cushioned trainer with ample cushioned for most runs, it doesn't really excel in any category but is reliable in most. I would recommend this shoe to someone who enjoyed the ride but wanted something with more substance or to someone who found the nimbus too cushioned but liked the design.
It seems that really moving away from any "traditional" trainers or even just shoes that are not max cushioned. I would love to see a return of a cumulus with a little less stack and ff blast, I feel asics need a shoe that can utilize their great foam compounds but not be a tank. Even the novablast is moving away from being able to be a shoe for "fast running", some energy return is lost, more cush is gained Not every shoe needs to be max cushion pillow of a shoe, even the most comfortable mattress needs some springs to be good.
Awesome shoeI Hope they don’t change this iteration! It’s perfect. It feels so natural with enough cushion, light on my feet, while not getting in the way of my stride at all. I can use it for all paces.
RIP Gel CumulusThe 23 was a respectable shoe, and the 24 improved the ride, but shoe has been completely reimagined for the 25. If I wanted Hoka I'd buy that brand. Just a terrible shoe now, and a sad example of what happens when Marketing ruins a good previously good product
ComfyI own 7 pairs of runners, these are the most comfy pair. Lots of give in the sole. Now if they had better colours...Red?
