Product Details:

The ASICS Superblast lifts off in a big way by delivering luxurious comfort and high energy return in an ultra-lightweight package. Built as a souped-up version of the ever-popular Novablast model, the Superblast is a do-it-all shoe that is suitable for all types of training as well as race day use, with the ability to handle the demands of a full marathon.

Featuring a dual layer of the brand's best foam technologies, the Superblast can easily take on all the demands of a dedicated runner's training cycle while keeping the legs fresh and ready for whatever the next run brings. Taking a closer look at the midsole, you'll see a large stack of ASICS' FLYTEFOAM Blast Turbo, which is the same foam the same foam that is found in the elite METASPEED racing line. Sitting on top of this soft and highly responsive foam is a thin layer of slightly firmer FLYTEFOAM Blast+ which provides the stability needed to maintain a fast and efficient stride.

The outsole of the Superblast is designed to keep weight to a minimum, with AHARPLUS rubber strategically placed for protection where necessary and cut out in areas where it is not needed. The upper of the shoe is made from a Jacquard woven material that is both breathable and durable, while the gusseted neoprene padded tongue provides added structure. No matter the distance, no matter the speed, the ASICS Superblast makes every mile comfortable, fun, and well, super.

What You'll Love

  • From training runs to race day, this shoe can truly do-it-all really well.

Long Run Dream ShoeThis shoe is amazing for long runs!

OverratedI ended up buying a pair after reading all the rave reviews. And after a couple runs in them I just don’t get it. I am an older (upper 40’s) fairly new runner. But have put in over 2500 miles over the past couple years on over 20 different shoes across a broad range of categories (daily trainers, super trainers, super shoes, speed shoes and even some trail shoes) and manufacturers (adidas, NB, Nike, Saucony, ON, NNormal, …). And these are easily the worst shoes I own in terms of performance vs value. My first run was particularly bad in that I experienced burning sensations in the outer portion of my forefoot on both feet. I did not experience this on the second run but still was not overly impressed with the performance vs price. And the burning sensation is something I never felt in any other running shoes, ever. In terms of shoes I use in a similar category (super trainer), I own and regularly run in two pairs of Endorphin Speed 3’s and there is no comparison. ES3 is hands down better in every way I can think of - and can often be found on discount for under $150. I also have a pair of NB SC trainer’s with over 200 miles on them, which are cheaper and much more enjoyable. Even ASICS own NovaBlast 3, which I was able to pick up for less than $100 is a better shoe for me. Feels and performs similarly with the added bonuses that I’ve never felt any pain in them and were half the price. And super shoes, forget about it - they blow these out of the water. Have done long runs and races in the VaporFly 3, Endorphin Pro 3 and adidas pro 3 and there is nothing I can say that is better about the Superblast vs these shoes. I understand these are technically in a “different category”, but for performance vs value comparison purposes it’s fair game. I got all those mentioned super shoes at discounts so they were about the same price as the Superblast or cheaper (even picked up my adidas pro 3 for under $150). Possibly the Superblast wins on durability? I just don’t have enough miles in any of these shoes to make that assessment. Although I can say I’m around 100 miles in my Endorphin Pro 3’s and they still look and feel like new. There are just too many shoes out there that are at least as good or better at a much cheaper price. So do yourself a favor - save your money and go get one of those instead.

Good showI really like these shoes for my long runs. I average about 35 miles a week right now. I am just starting a training block for a marathon. Longest run I have done in these is 15 miles. They are good, I don’t feel that they help my speed at all. I like them because they’re comfortable and cushioned but still somewhat bouncy so they don’t feel heavy once I get deeper into the miles. I don’t like the unisex design because I feel that the tow box is too loose for my foot. I had the same problem with the Hoka plated shoe that one came unisex. I also have problems locking down my heel in these, the runners loop helped. I think if they offered it designed for a male or female, female foot specifically these problems would be resolved and then I would like the shoe more.

Great all around shoes. These shoes are incredible. I find myself wanting to lace them up every time I go for a run. I’ve already logged just under 60 miles in about a week in these bad boys and there’s no signs of visible wear and tear. I’ve done everything from recovery to threshold paces and it just handles all types of runs very well. Feels slightly better for faster pace runs. Best part about them is how well they take care of my legs and feet. I feel like I’m recovering faster in between harder/longer training sessions.

Superblast vs. Novablast 1,2,3 and Nimbus 25Bottom line up front: It's a great shoe; it's less bouncy than the Novablast and less cushioned than the Nimbus 25, but an all-around superbly lightweight Maximalist shoe for mid-to-long runs. My first run in the shoe was around 12 miles and it worked well right out the box. While the shoe doesn't appear to have any specialized geometry or super-shoe add-ons (e.g. carbon plate), it stays out of way in the gate cycle and just gets the job done. The only downsides are the high price point, the short laces (when using the runners knot) and the limited colorways. How does it compare to other shoes in the ASICS lineup? Well, I'm a 5'-11', 190lbs non-elite runner. For me the Superblast is a great complementary addition to other shoes in my rotation. I'm using my Novablast(s) for daily training, tempo and threshold runs, the Nimbus 25 for recovery days and the Superblast for long runs.

FAVORITE RUNNING SHOE EVERI’ve run in many different shoes over many years of racing marathons and halfs. This shoe feels very lightweight on the feet and there truly is something to the foam. A fast shoe for sure. I use this on my workout days ( T,Th and Saturday long run ) and I wear the Nimbus on my recovery days. The shoe has held up as well as any shoe ever has. About 350 miles is where I switched it out. With the thin sole on this and the Nimbus they are great summer shoes but a bit slippery on wet asphalt. I’ll wear different shoes through winter when the roads are wet for that reason. But on dry roads the best show ever designed. I’m 55 a very passionate dedicated runner (9 time Boston) and have run in many shoes over the years. My take….

Look great, but not my favoriteThese aren't bad, but they aren't the best for where my running is at right now. I mostly run lots of slow miles and these don't really feel minimal enough to feel like I'm getting more speed out of them, nor soft enough to feel like I'm being pampered. For a lot of folks, these are probably perfect, but they just aren't my favorites. That said, I think they look incredible... I wish I liked the feel of them more. It's not bad, but I'd rather be running in either the Clifton 9 for daily runs or the Escalante 3 when I want to feel the ground more and focus on technique. For me, I think these should be just a tiny bit softer, but that's from someone who feels like the Clifton is just right.... so it might be perfect for you.

Shoes deserve all the hypeThese are amazing! I've done speed workouts, tempo runs and easy runs in them since I've received them and they feel great on each type of run. Will be ordering a next pair soon for my next marathon training cycle! So pleased!

Great ShoeThis was my first pair of the Superblast. They worked very well for me. They are extremely versatile and can do anything. I have used these for many distances and many paces. It works well for anything. Many reviews that I have read have recommended going a half size down. I didn't with my pair, and wish that I would have. It does not really cause me issues, but I think if I were going to race in them the extra length up front could lead to some blisters on my toes. I am planning for a marathon in early 2024, and I will definitely be ordering a second pair (half size down) for the end of the build up and the marathon itself.

Legs feel freshThese shoes are great and my legs still feel fresh after long runs and hike mileage week. I have ~100miles on them and there is barely any signs of breakdown. I used to be a loyal novablast runner for any slower distance run, but the superblast have replaced my beloved novablast. I even can do some tempo efforts in them (but prefer my endorphin speeds for anything faster). Hopefully ASICS doesn’t change these with future generations

Late to the party.I am late to the party, I know. This shoe is amazing. Though trial and error I have figured out that plated shoes just do not work for me. I have tried carbon plate, nylon plate, TPU plate, full plate, partial plate, …….etc. For some reason every plated shoe irritates my left Achilles. I am preparing to run my first marathon in over 20 years and have been trying to establish my shoe rotation. I am wearing Clifton 9s for recovery and easy runs. I have been wearing the Superblast for everything else (and some some easy runs). They have never disappointed. You might not get the same pop that comes from a carbon plate, but for me that is OK. I hate to sound cliche, but I hope this shoe doesn’t change for a while. This one of the few shoes that I have run in that I would stock up on if there was going to be any changes.

The most versatile shoe I've ownedBelieve the hype! The Superblast really can do everything exceptionally well. It can take about 10ish miles to really break in, but after that it's perfect for long runs, easy runs, and speed work.

Fantastic versatile high stack trainerIf you're a fan of "supermax" high stack shoes, you can't do much better than this. The Superblast is a big shoe and they felt a tiny bit clunky when I first put them on, but they're incredibly light and surprisingly stable. They're also really responsive and fun, making them versatile enough for a big range of my runs: easy days, long runs with some marathon pace, or recovery. Don't be put off by the absence of a plate: they're light and responsive and fun enough to pick up the pace well, though I wouldn't race in them, though I can see some people liking them for a marathon or even a half. Obviously expensive but hoping to get a lot of use out of them.

as good as people say they are!I kept hearing how amazing these shoes were and in the end had to try a pair... turns out they really are amazing! The foam is so good and absorbs a ton so my legs are much less tired and am generally able to run again much sooner than with my regular Hoka 8's. Yes they are very expensive but if you are able to, they are definitely worth trying

The best max cushion shoe that can do it all!I love how this shoe can have the highest stack height and can still be one of the lightest max cushion out there. i have other max cushion shoes and I cant find myself really picking up the pace or just use them for recovery runs. But the superblast ended up being one of the most fun max cushion shoes ive ever had and , its the prefect mix of plus & stiff foam you can easily do a half to full marathon in these.

Excellent Everyday TrainerThe Superblast is a superb everyday trainer. After reading many positive reviews which rated the Superblast among the best shoes on the market, I decided to add it to my rather large collection of running shoes. From the first run, it has lived up to my expectations. It has ample cushioning, but remains light under foot, and for a cushioned trainer, I found that it runs fast. I have no issues picking up the pace when the urge hits late in a run. I highly recommend the Superblast, and I plan to purchase another pair in a different colorway in the near future.

Why use a ton of foam if it is hard?NI thought they would be at least somewhat cushiony and bouncy. I CANT EVER UNDERSTAND WHY A TON OF FOAM to make it feel like a shoe that has a 20mm rubber midsole. This are no more cushioned than ON Monsters. Big - YES, But WHY? Serves no purpose and paying a lot more for the materials and of course the "designers" that make such a contradictory design choice.

Great all around workout shoeHave never worn asics. Tried to several years ago but ive never loved the fit. These are pretty good. I don't love the tongue mainly because it has zero padding and prevents me from getting a great lock down. That being said I do love the shoe. Good pop , good cushion that has been nice on my legs, I can roll through the strides with this. I do run in the endorphin speed 3 also. I do like it more but my legs seem to take a bit more of a beating in those shoes. If your looking for good uptempo shoe with pop and cushion to save your legs this is it.

Do not fear the stack heightThe shoe rides like any other shoe…it’s just better, faster, and way more comfy. Oh yeah and way more expensive. I’ve put about 50 faster miles on them and while not as mushy as the nimbus 25, they are plush. I’d buy another pair.

Super Versatile and Blasty!!Very fun shoe. It's much lighter than it looks. I love the midsole, it has a nice pop and after 100 miles, it still feels the same, if not better. This fit in perfectly to my rotation. I use it as my long run and recovery. It's a shoe that feels so nice to just cruise easily in and then you turn it up and it can turn over easily, allowing this to also be a fast shoe. The upper is very well padded for comfort, making this my option also on days I just need to pamper my feet/legs. From my current rotation, if there was only a 1 shoe rotation, this would be the one. I have the cream color, I call it the cream dream in strava. Usually not a fan of clean plain colorways that easily gets dirty, but this is an awesome color. Nice to just rock out and walk the streets to get lunch. Very comfy for that and looks great. Plus I can go from hanging out to catching a run, no problem. If there is a dislike, it could possibly be my feet tend to get warm in these, could be my sock combo, could be the weather, or a combination (currently spring, 30 to 39 deg in northern NH). Most of the time this doesn't bother me, just a thought now that it's getting warmer.

Phenomenal for Easy jog/LRs. Ankle stability?I really only use this shoe for shakeouts and long runs, and I do have to say they are nice to run in. The first time I ran in them it felt like I was sinking into the foam, but I always had a nice push off of the ground. It took me a few runs to get used to that feeling, but now I always look forward to it because of how mush less pressure it puts on my knees and ankles. This shoe was my replacement for the Nike Invincible 2s, and I am glad I never upgraded to the 3s and chose the SuperBlasts because the ride is very comfortable. I really enjoy the upper and how roomy to is. However, if you are a person who wants to tie their shoes tight, you’ll have to put in a little work to do that because this shoe wants to stay relaxed. The shoe is easy to put on and take off, which I never would have thought that I would like that, but I do. Shoe fits true to size in my opinion. Be careful if you decide to use these shoes on grass or bumpy terrain because of the high stack. I have rolled my ankles quite a few times in them, but it’s never been bad enough to take me out of the running scene. I would really only recommend these shoes for concrete and packed gravel/limestone/grass. However, I do think this shoe should be in your arsenal for the easy mileage and long runs; best max cushioned, non-plated, super foam shoe in my opinion.

Super Lightweight CruiserThis shoe finds the sweet spot b/t the huge stack of a racing supershoe and the flexibility and durability of a daily trainer. I came to this from the Novablast, which I also love, but this shoe just adds more underfoot protection and a cleaner roll through the stride without adding weight. (Note: this shoe is NOT as bouncy as the Novablast but it is a lot more stable). The upper fits better too, though the shoelaces are a bit too thin and I notice them on runs. For comparison, I think this shoe does most of the stuff that people are hoping for in a max stack shoe like a Hoka Bondi or Nike Invincible of SC Trainer but with a better-fitting upper and 2 oz. lighter in weight than those others. Most max cushion shoes are always too roomy / clunky for my narrow foot (width B-C). I also really like the fact that this shoe does not have a plastic or carbon plate in it. I was using some old Alphaflys for long runs (18-22) but didn't want to run in a plated shoe every weekend. This shoe solves that problem. It would make a great marathon shoe for someone striving for comfort > performance or who doesn't want a plated shoe. This shoe can handle a wide variety of paces from recovery to marathon pace (nothing higher than that), though I think its best use is for the slower paces / daily miles. It is extremely stable for such a high stack. It sort of reminds me of a racier-feeling Hoka Clifton with 10mm more stack underfoot / same weight. I do think the shoe runs a tad long (I'm 11 in Nova/Superblast but 11.5 in Nike). Is it worth it? No if you are on a budget. Yes, if you are the type of person who would rather pay $50 extra to have a smile on your face each time you reach for your daily trainers -- they always feel "special" even on regular days. I would not have bought this shoe at the original full price of $200. I got a 15% discount and still feel like it was a bit overpriced at $195. If this shoes was priced closer to $180 it would sell like hot cakes. Room for improvement: I wish there were a bit more FlyteFoam Blast (bouncy) instead of Turbo (firmer). I wonder what it would feel like if the layer of FF Blast were on top of the Turbo. I love the stability of this shoe but would love to have just a tad more bounce in the roll. This shoe does give a bit more squish / response after 100 miles. They get better the longer I break them in.

Better than I expectedFor background, I've logged hundreds of miles in the Novablast 2 and 3. Based on my first two runs in the Superblast, it's going to be hard for me to return to the Novablast lineup. While I'll still use plated shoes for uptempo efforts, the Superblast is my new go-to option for recovery days and long runs.
