Too Many ChangesI am a huge fan of the Lonepeak shoes. However, this version is the first one that I had to change out of in the middle of a race because I could not get the laces to lock in correctly on one foot which led to bruising the top of my foot and blisters from my foot sliding around. It was very disappointing. I will not buy the version 7 again.
Altar shoesThe shoe fits sloppy but add another insole that took care of the problem. I started wearing Altra shoes because of having sore knees when training for half marathon. No more knee problems. Wish they made a better shoe lace for them.
Trail shoesI just started using it. Felt comfortable and works well with my wide feet. Seems better fit compared to other Altra trail shoes.
TOUGH SHOE!I've Had the #6, Now I have the #7. They literally outlasted my 3 other HOKA shoes of the same category! The HOKAS I had only lasted 6-9 months of use. These have lasted 1 full year, all weather and terrain abuse (compared to the Hokas). HIGHLY RECOMMEND these. VERY comfortable! Great Grip. The Contour to your foot Is awesome!
Simply great shoesStraight out of the box, these are very comfortable with multiple 90+ minute rocky hikes in the first month. High quality build. Big fan of the low stack, zero drop design after suffering from several lower leg injuries over the past two years while running in high stack running shoes. Arthritic knee prevents me from running now, but I hike 15 minute/mile pace (low zone 2) and these shoes measure up for that performance. Although I don't have 2E wide feet, my feet are wider than normal and the Altra forefoot design is the best on the market... again, excellent comfort.
Bring back the 6!I’ve had these for almost 300 miles, some being Wasatch 100. I was hoping for better quality on the treads. I fully understand that Rocky terrain will wreck any shoe, but the LP 6.0 was a far more durable shoe.
I’m sure I will continue to buy these, being that my feet are locked into Altra. Just sucks that they change from version to version, and far too many ways.

Tremendous improvement in fit and comfortMy previous favorite trail shoe was the Lone Peak 4. I owned many pairs and happy, as one would expect. However, the fit and comfort of the Lone Peak 7, especially under the laces, is absolutely a positive game changer. I wear them for running, gym, hiking, and casual. The LP7 is one of the rare shoes that truly provides all day comfort and performance. I’m 77, 6’3”, with wide feet. I find the D width fits well and holds on uneven single track.
They're GreatAlthough they seem to be getting narrower every iteration, these are still nice and wide like you'd expect. Used to wear size 11 in the LP 5's, but for the 6's and 7's I've had to move up to an 11.5. The grip seems to have improved a bit and they're very comfortable, I never get any blisters or hot spots. I will be buying more of these.
shoe is stuck on pauseI have had two previous models of this shoe, and three iterations of the Superior line, with only great things to say. This version feels flat. Out of the box the shoe felt like a flat tire. My Lone Peak 4.5's with over 400 miles and worn treads actually felt better on a comparison test run. I hate to say that I am probably moving on to another brand if my toes can manage to sit closer to each other in the classroom. I'm not on the Altra sold out band wagon, but I was surprised at how this shoe felt under foot at speed. I can't speak to the build quality as this shoe was moved on after 40 miles (my previous shoes were all great in that department). I think they would be fine for hiking, but there is nothing helping forward motion when running. If you are at a store, do take time to actually run in them to make your own decision. I am thankful my Lone Peak 6's are ready to go to the mountains next week or I'd be in a bad way.
Heavy & AwkwardWas hoping this was a cushy version of the Timp 4, but running does not feel good in these. Walking feels decent. I felt like my feet were heavy and clunky; I'm guessing because the toe box is wider than the Timp 4s and the back has the little kick. Not a fan of running in these but might not be bad for long hikes? Never returned shoes except with these ):
Where's Altra?Narrow original footshape, something feels off with the upper material, and footbed too stiff/ hard. Reminds me of the downfall of the Torin line. The colors are too hard to get past.
More, BetterGreat shoe. Great grip. Improvements all around. The upper is more comfortable than ever. There's just something more about this shoe than there has been in the past.
