What I hoped it would beI've always mixed in an Altra shoe here or there in my rotation, but the latest Escalante was too minimalist for me and I didn't enjoy running in it. The Torin solves this problem. It doesn't feel as aggressive as a "true" 0 drop shoe, but it's certainly still quite low, while being far more comfortable with a slight rockered feel and smooth ride.

Better than the Torin 6An improvement from the Torin 6. The upper is more breathable and comfy, the ride is more forgiving and responsive, and the outsole is more durable. However, the upper still tears on the lateral sides of the shoe. If they would fix the adhesive they use for the uppers it would be a 4.5 of 5.0.

Not a TorinI’ve ran in several iterations of the torin dating back to the 3 I believe. These 7s are NOT a Torin. Bulky. Too much stack. Not flexible. Too much shoe.

This new model is a step up!I have been wearing Altra Torin for the last 7 years or so. I'm always a little nervous when a new model comes out because I generally like the last one and don't want to get used to the next model. But the new Torin 7s are an improvement on the Torin 6s. They are more comfortable with a softer, even cozier insole. Still great, wide toe box area and still available in lots of colors. I am happy that there was a sale on these and I was able to get two pairs. Happy Running to All!

Best Torin Yet!!I’ve been an Altra guy for years, but switched to On CloudX for a casual daily wear when I took a break from running. Ordered these Torin’s as I’m getting back to running and I don’t wanna take them off. Cushion in all the right places, hugs my heel in all the right places, a padded tongue that stays in place, in other words, PERFECTION. All the way around.

Torin 7 Returns Line to Optimal PerformanceThe Torin 7 soft upper tongue returns this model to the glory days of the famous Torin 4, plus has an added cushioned ride. The added cushioning makes any activity easier on the joints, but has a tiny price of a slightly stiffer step-off. The toe-box is comfortably wide and the inner sock has a slight snug feel. The fit is standard size, so no need to upsize. The Torin 7 is a winner, and the color styles are appealing.

DisappointedI’ve been a Torin fan for several years and iterations now. This is a great shoe except for the height of the ankle collar. I tried breaking them in and making them work, but the pain in my ankles consisted. Just ordered the Escalante 3’s and hoping for a better experience.

So comfortable.High price but dang they are comfortable. Uppers are quality and have lasted me 3 months of daily running. They are getting worn but so far have held up. Yes they are more then the Paradigms but I think to me worth it in the comfort and quality of the shoe.

Running ReviewI've been using Torins since model 4. Torin's 4 was the best so far. I retired them after 500 mile +. I keep using them for mowing the yard. Torin 5 had upper mesh issues and on the Torin 6 the cushion was gone around mile 300. Torin 7 feels like a different shoe. After 63 miles I returned them. Not sure if it is quality control issues. I can not lockdown the shoes properly. On top of that laces are kind of short. While running the cushion is not there. Very firm and stiff version of Torins. Very disappointed. Right now I'm out of a zero drop shoe. Using 5 & 6 MM drop shoes until I can find a Zero drop trainer that make me feel what the Torin 4 used to be.

Good walking shoeI bought this for my wife for walking since she liked the Escalante, but that wasn't enough cushioning for her. She loves these for her daily walks. And she likes the colorway of dark teal and pink. Personally, I only wear the Escalante for indoor gym workouts, since my Achilles can't handle a zero-drop shoe for running. I just may check out the new Altra with the 4mm drop, but I tend to be an 8mm or more person. I think the Torin are the best Altra model for road and casual wear. I would add that the first thing she did was replace the liners with Currex and now she says they're perfect.

Very comfortableCompared to the Torrrin 6, this one is very slightly bigger, has a better tongue with more padding, and more cushion in the sole. Very comfortable for running and everyday wear.

Comfortable for Running/TravelingI highly recommend these comfortable shoes with a wide toe box and zero drop. My feet are evenly balanced and there is no extra pressure on the balls of my feet like in other shoes which tend to have a higher elevation in the back. I have Morton's neuroma with pain underneath my 2nd/3rd toe but with these shoes and a toe separator and shoe inserts, I can now run again!

Best Torin since 4Torin fans--it's back! The 4s were my favorite running shoes. Then the 5 came out with the tongue cutting everyone's feet, and the 6 wasn't much better. The 7 has a foot-friendly tongue now, and it's back to good times. The 7 differs from the 4 with the bounce, flexibility, and heel fit. EgoMax gives a little bounce that's missing from Quantic in a good way. EgoMax is still plenty soft for sink, but the Quantic never gave anything back; it was soft and that's it. The 7 is a little less flexible than the 4, so it doesn't quite have that "disappearing" fit, but isn't a deal breaker. Finally, the heel cup isn't as snug in the 7. This is resolved with the heel lock loop lacing. Fit is as good as ever, with a roomy toe box. Given the mesh materials on the 7, it has less volume for up and down wiggle room compared to the 4, but also isn't a deal-breaker. Ultimately, this is a big functional step forward from the 5 and 6 and should appease anyone missing the Torin 4. For what it's worth, my wife says the 7 is now her favorite running shoe ever, and boy did she miss the 4. Stock up!

Little bit of magic feelLove the feel of these. Right now they are my favorite shoe. Compared to the 6’s these offer just the right about of cushion for the every day trainer. The sole has a good amount of spring and a slight stiffness. This with the foam they use gives it a little bit of that magic. Also tried the Topo specter to reference and they don’t seem to have that special feel. Maybe the foam will last longer but out of the box impression on the Topo is no magic.I do appreciate the outsole on the heal as it give the shoe some form. Highly recommend

Time for the MilesSo far so good with this shoe. I've only put on about 12 miles (19.31km) on them, but have not complaints with them right out of the box. No foot fatigue, no hot spots. So as always we'll see how well they hold up when the real miles start racking up.

Instant Ankle PainI was happy when I looked at the pictures and noticed Altra had gotten rid of the horrible tongue that plagued the last couple of Torin models. I ordered a pair of the Torin 7 with high hopes. The sides of the new model are extremely stiff compared to previous models (and the Escalante). The sides of the shoe dig in hard to the underside of the bony part of your outer ankle (malleolus?). I noticed this walking in the shoes but figured I'd try a quick run to see if running changed the feel of the shoes. It did not. I turned around a few hundred feet from the house and changed back into my old Escalantes. I'm very grateful for the generous return policy.

Disappointed out of the BoxI bought mine directly from Altra, only because RW had been out of stock on my size for a while and my Torin 6 pairs were worn out. These shoes are nothing like the 6. They are heavy, stiff, and rigid, not to mention narrower in the 2E size than before especially in the mid-foot. I'm normally excited to pull a pair of Torins out of the box and go for a 10-mile run on a new pair, but these shoes had me wishing for my version 6 pairs back. They also went back to a thicker tongue, which is a negative in my book. I'm about done with Altra. I've already moved back to Hoka for trail running, so I think I'll do the same for road running.

They're back!I liked the Torin 4.5 Plush, but not so much the subsequent models, until the Torin 7. I like the fit, the cushion, and the feel of this model. I have been away from running for a while due to injuries, but recently restarted. These shoes are making it easy to get back in the swing. For some reason, the toe box of the 7 just fits better than the 6, the laces work, and the tongue is not cruel.

Love this update! The updates to this shoe is exactly what everybody has been needing in the Torin. The new midsole is soft but also responsive at the same time. You can feel the 2mm increase in stack in a good way. I can run so much further without foot pain in these shoes. The tongue is a dream compared to the last couple versions. The fit is so much better and is true to size. Also loving the slight rocker and stable feel of the new shoe geometry. This shoe is just so much fun to run in. Thanks Altra!

Amazing update!I have worn most of the iterations of the Torin, and this is by far the best one. I will even go as far as to say that this is my favorite running shoe ever. The upper fits me perfectly and the new tongue design is plenty cushioned without being too thick. The additional 2 mm of stack height really makes a difference and allows me to run further without pain. The shoe feels more stable than ever, and the slight rocker effect helps me move along nicely. The reformulated midsole foam is a perfect blend of cushioned but responsive, and feels lively underfoot. The shoe also fits true to size which was an issue for me in the past. I really hope Altra holds on to what they have here and only make tiny changes to this shoe as the years go on. This one is a winner, good job Altra.
