Excellent on very technical trailsPurchased these last minute before a non-military ruck march on a steep and technical terrain. They were perfect! The trail was full of rocks, slippery dead grass, dirt and pebbles, dense and dry foliage, and so steep at times that I had to use my hands to climb up and almost sit on my butt to get down. My feet never slid once, and my toes didn't smash into the front of the shoes on the downhills. I ordered a 1/2 size up from my usual running shoe, per other review recommendations, and the size was spot on. I highly recommend these!

Very stiff shoeI buy trail running shoes to use a hiking shoes. I find they are usually a little more flexible than hiking shoes and grip rocks better. I'm disappointed in these shoes in that they are extremely stiff--no bending your feet in these. Also the toe box is smaller than I'm used to in Brooks (my favored brand for running shoes).

Brooks Cascadia goes large and lightI've had every version of Cascadia since #6. I love BC! Color options are usually good and varied. In the beginning, sole was grippy (claimed to be non-skid) providing excellent grip on slippery slopes, and sole was also thick and fairly stiff to prevent rock bruises and reduce fatigue. Brooks has gone lighter and softer with the sole so I need to wear thicker socks and replace shoes more often. For some reason, the 16 is 1/2 size larger than prior versions. Plenty of toe box room so order a size smaller. Enjoy your trail run!

Comments: I really like my hiking shoes. They seemed to really help me not slip on rocks. They were comfortable the first day I walked and jogged in them.
