Nice high stack daily trainerI am really enjoying the Ghost Max. I have about 50 miles in them. It is not a firm shoe at all, but not as soft as one may expect a high stack shoe to be. The midsole is a nice combo of soft and responsive. They are very balanced, plenty of toe box width and height. Despite being fairly girthy, they do not feel clunky. Tongue has no gusset, but I haven’t noticed any slippage. Solid lockdown. Good shoe for cushioned daily miles, long runs. Wouldn’t be great for any speed work aside from strides. Cons - I have some issues getting the shoe on. The lack of a heel flare or pull tab make is tough to get on without smashing the heel cup. By no means a deal breaker. But that is it for negatives.

The Surprise of 2023Coming off marathon season, I was searching for an easy running shoe. All the usual suspects were too soft. The Ghost Max was the surprise of 2024. The step-in is fantastic. The fit is great. And, the underfoot experience while on a run is simultaneously responsive and protective. I've thrown in a few miles at marathon pace, and the shoe kept up. Will keep these in my rotation for easy days in my next training cycle!

SurprisedI’ve put a few miles on these already and they are surprisingly comfortable. Nice easy shoe to run in. I have used them for base, threshold and long runs and they have performed well.

For me right now, perfection shoe.....I'm using this shoe for trail running. Me - 155lbs bodyweight, 35- 50mpw, run firetrail to dirt single track with lots of climbing, small sections of pave. Our local dirt trails are primarily all dirt, with some minor rocky stuff. For me, compared to a lot of the trail shoes on the market, this shoe feels like a rocket. If there is enough segmentation of the road outsole, many road shoes will work on 99% of trails. Heel-toe offset feels rad. Lace all the way through top eyelet, about 1/2" of tongue remains - roll my feet outward and the shoe stays with my feet nicely... calve stretch to test heel compartment, and it's snug, secure, and no lifting. I flex the fore-foot of each shoe several times and it looks good to go for climbing!!! The shoe has a nice, wider ground contact, I get 0 wigglys on high speed singletrack downhills - way more stable than Trabuco Max 2/ Rift/ Exodus . - Mafate 4 more stable. The upper makes the shoe vanish on my feet, I don't feel the shoe, I'm just running. The fore-foot upper fits similarly to the Mafate 4 - not too snug, but no wasted space - with a bit of wiggle room. The mid-sole is heaven - it doesn't have a basket ball bounce and I love that. It takes the landing kind of quickly (not like Fresh Foam) and moves me along - no a pillow/ crashpad. Also, this shoe runs super smooth. This is Mach 5/ older Pearl Izumi EM2 smoothness!!!!! Both tongues on the shoes migrated about 1/8" laterally and then stopped for 7-8 mile hilly runs. Brooks, get a lightweight strap in there, this is 2023, come on!!!!! Lastly, our local trail conditions are dry, to rookie traction damp. This shoe has climbed on dry stuff at about 25 - 35 degrees pitch with no problem - regarding tread functionality. The shoe doesn't collect mud/ dirt in the knobbies - that's what I love!!!!. Gorilla snot mud shuts the shoe down. Fun, awesome shoe on trails!!!!!

Best Ghosts YetI have been an avid Ghost user since the 13’s and I’ve burned up a few pair of those. I didn’t like the 14’s, but the 15’s are great. As my road mileage crept up, I wanted to try a cushioned shoe but not a mega-Cush one. Enter the Ghost Max. I dig them. Just the right amount of extra comfort but not too much, and they fit like the classic 13/15 I love.

Great ShoesI tried them on the other day and they fit perfect for me. I have a wide foot and I tried their wide size and they fit great very roomy. I jogged around the store for a bit and I really loved the reaction to the shoes. I am looking to get a pair soon.

Cushy and plenty of forefoot roomI have wide feet and corns on both feet that hurt with many running shoes; Ghosts are one of the very few shoes that are comfortable for me. The Ghost Max has the same roomy forefoot I love in my regular Ghost shoes, and is cushier underfoot. I've been wearing them on my forest-service-road running routes while these are firm and dry. Once it gets snowy, I'll either need to add the spiky grippers to these, or switch to trail shoes; the Ghosts don't have much grip in sloppy conditions.

Best max cushion shoeThis is a great long run shoe . It is not too firm or mushy. It propels you forward. It is not for speed work....but excellent cushion for long runs. This is one great shoe.

Good daily trainerFirst brooks I’ve bought in a while. I enjoy the rocker and the stability of the shoe. Cushioning without being sloppy and corners nicely for a max cushion shoe.

Great if you wear custom insolesI have hallux limitus and wear custom insoles. This is one of the most comfortable/stable shoes I've ever worn for running. The rocker and protective cushioning are in the perfect place for me. The stiffness and cushioning are just right. My only critique is the lack of grip on the outsole. It is okay for the road, but they can slip a bit on leafy trails. I run 20 to 30 miles a week on a variety of surfaces.

Worst shoe that I ever ran inFor me, this Ghost Max was the worst shoe I ever ran in. I was excited to try a more “modern” technology Ghost model, but this was not what I experienced. It was horrible. And found it to be a waste of my time and money. I run 40 to 90 mpw, (depending on the time of year and my plans) , for the past 20 years and the Ghost is the one shoe that has always been there for me for as long as I can remember, so I’ll skip the “Max” model and stick to the 15 for now. I also rotate in a Hoka for about 14 years now (especially on the trails) and this Ghost Max is nothing like a Hoka. Big disappointment.

This is the Brooks shoe I've been waiting forThis is the Brooks shoe I've been waiting for. It's perfect, the fit is accommodating, the cushion is perfectly balanced (not too firm or soft), the forefoot is well protected (rare for Books!), the outsole grips on wet surfaces, the rocker is well executed. I love how stable the shoe is and how neutral the platform is. I'm buying my wife a pair. I hope Brooks keeps this model very consistent for years to come!
