Product Details:

When your running route takes you from the road to the trails, the HOKA Challenger 7 will assist in making that adventure a smooth one. Thanks to the increased stack height from previous models and the soft CMEVA foam in the midsole, runners will experience a plush landing mile after mile no matter the terrain. The strategically placed lugs and the proprietary rubber in the outsole work together to provide excellent traction on singletrack trails and fireroads without sacrificing a smooth ride on paved surfaces. Rounding out the shoe is a breathable engineered mesh upper with a gussetted tongue design that offers a secure yet adaptable fit. When you're not exactly sure where or how far your run will take you, or when you only have room for one shoe while traveling, the HOKA Challenger 7 is a do-it-all shoe that is ready for the call.

Hoka Challenger 7 ReviewI have relied on Hoka shoes for all my running needs. I do 5K, 10K, 13.1, and 70.3 Ironman's. I recently signed up for a 10K trail race and decided on purchasing the Hoka Challenger 7 after reading the reviews. I have worn them for two training runs on unimproved roads and some non-technical trails. They are a narrow shoe and I find the side of my feet hurting after each of the runs. I also do not think they are true to size. If anyone purchases a pair, I recommend sizing up by 1/2 to give you extra room for your sides of your feet. I was disappointed and currently looking for a new trail shoe to replace it, hopefully it will be another pair of Hoka's.

Solid Trail ShoeVery happy with my purchase. I made the transition from the Speed goat to the Challenger a year ago because most of what I run on doesn't require the aggressive tread that the Speed goat has. These shoes are much lighter and offer all of the cushion that the Speed goats do, maybe even a little more. This is my second pair and I decided to size down half a size. They do fit better but I've dealt with a few blisters on my big toe when I run over 3 hours at a time. I feel like this will only be temporary until the shoes break in, overall very happy and highly recommended.

Hoka ChallengerI decided to purchase the Challenger as I was looking for stability , traction, and comfort ! I run off road for the most part , having previously worn the Clifton , had many pair over the course of a few years . The Challenger (to me) is very stiff , and too low profile . I’ve been breaking them in for at least 2 months , on different terrains and all type of weather(mostly wet) here in the PNW. This is my opinion , everybody has different needs and expectations. They aren’t for me .

Poor fitMuch more narrow in the forefoot than the previous version. Couldn’t wear them but it’s fine because I discovered the Mach 5.

Hoka. Challenger 7These shows are super comfortable. They feel great on long walks and runs. I even hiked the Colorado Rockies in them and they were perfect! I would highly recommend.

Perfect hiking shoeBought these to train for the Camino de Santiago. Little to no break in time, held up to all types to trail training conditions. Today was my first day on the Camino. 18 miles in rain and mud, climbing and all types of terrain. Did not disappoint, Worked perfectly, highly recommend!

Poor Re designI have been using this shoe since version 4.the minor tweaks over the years have been fine. The core shoe didn't change. However with v6 it no longer fits the same and the comfort level was degraded. I wear a 12 but with this new design I'm closer to 11.5

Great multipuspose shoeThis is my second pair of Challengers. They fit and secure well to the foot and feel good when moving. I use them for hiking, trail running, and urban Rucking with a weighted pack. I appreciate the thick rocker sole which allows me easy forward movement in spite of Hallux rigidus.

Ultra trail shoeI bought these shoes for a non-technical ultra race and I love them. They are well cushioned in the upper so there are no pressure points with the lacing. There is plenty of room in the toe box, but not too roomy. They feel super light at just over 5 oz. Soft under foot but responsive. They also transition well to pavement. Great overall ultra shoe for non-technical terrain. For technical, Speedgoat 5 all the way!!!

Happy Summer FeetLove love the HOKA Challenger 7! Nice breathing toe box, very light and very cushiony, and pulls me forward with the drop. I think it's the bottom grip that causes the magic of long distance ending with very happy feet. Highly recommend the HOKA.

Forgiving and Easy to Run InLove the Hoka shoe. Have owned many pair. Wasn’t sure on size based on reviews but ended up in my usual athletic shoe size 10. Perfect for. Forgiving on the joints. I can run for ever in these. I run in the desert, on gravel and roughly paved roads mostly.

Traction lug Durability and grip very badComfortable shoe overall so I was pretty excited to get these on the trails. I’ve been wearing size 10.5 hoka shoes for a long time now and these fit just as nicely. Unfortunately the traction has terrible grip from the start. What’s worse is that the lugs have begun to tear completely off within the first 30-40 miles of east coast trail running. I’ve had several previous versions of the challenger and speedgoat hokas and never run into this lug durability issue before. It’s too bad.

Good grip on wet pavementIn the rainy equatorial tropics many shoes slip and slide on the roads and sidewalks. The Challenger 7 is a sure-footed shoe that stays where I plant my foot. Only the slipperiest algae covered smooth cement surfaces defeat the traction this shoe provides - and nothing can grip tropical cyanobacterial algae films on smooth surfaced. My use is primarily on hard surfaces and the shoe provides excellent cushioning. Coming from twenty years in ASICS size 11 shoes five years ago I found that I had to drop down a half size in Hoka shoes. Across their line the 10.5 have fit essentially the same. Note that I am running in the Federated States of Micronesia, not an option offered on the drop down list below.

Love the Challenger 7I've been running in the Challengers since Hoka first introduced them. I've loved them all and continue to love them as the 7 is my new favorite. Great trail comfort, great fit, lots of grip and just an excellent overall shoe! I've got 150 miles on my first pair of 7s and already purchased a new pair as back up.

Challenger 7I bought a pair of Challenger 7's after running through a pair of Challenger ATR 6's which I was very happy with. The Challenger 7's feel very similar to the 6's (lightweight, not too much tread, very stable). The only problem I've had with them so far is that the bottom of the shoe doesn't seem to protect to bottom of my feet as much as the Challenger ATR 6 did. I would also recommend sizing down, I didn't have a problem with a 10 with the Challenger ATR 6 but did notice there was quite a bit of space between the end of the shoe and my big toe. I sized down to a 9.5 with the 7's and they seem to fit better.

I was skeptical at firstIf you have never tried premium shoes like these, then you are in for a big surprise. I have used New Balance running shoes for about 20 years now. I figured anything claiming they were better was just all hype because New Balance, Nike, etc are all name brand and therefor the best, right? Boy was I wrong. I recently got a new job as a police officer and therefor heading to police academy. I'm currently 36 years old so I wanted the best comfort I could get if I was gonna have to run every day. Got these in and all I can say is “wow!” What a difference there is between this and your run of the mill running shoe. Having a new balance on one foot and a Hoka the other, the difference was night and day. I could easily feel the hard wood floor through the new balance. The Hoka on the other hand made all of that disappear and feel more like I was standing on a softer foam/carpet or something. I was honestly really surprised with the difference. I let my wife try and she gave the same assessment. Having said all that, I don't see myself going back to regular shoes. These are just far too comfortable to not use basically all the time. I now find myself wishing that Hoka made some ultra light duty boots! (Hint hint if you are listening Hoka)

Great ImprovementBeen running in the Clifton 8 and wanted to try these until the Clifton 9 comes out. Nice roomier toe box compared to previous model Challenger. Upper settles in nice after a few good runs. I've put well over 100 miles in these and ALL on concrete trails with hardly any tread wear. Thus would also recommend for a great door to trail option for sure.

challenger 7 reviewI was very excited foe this shoe. the increase stack height and cushioning were a welcome surprise. I wanted to love the new Speedgoats, but they were a disapointment to me. the cushioning and tread broke down way to quickly. I have many running friends who have felt the same. So in comes the new challenger. I admit that I was hesitant. I have over 100 miles logged in them so far and absolutely love them. They are everything that I hoped the Speedgoats would be. The cushioning and tread still feel like new. The uppers are super roomy with the right amount of stretchiness. Hoka also nailed it with that blue and orange color mixture. Thank you Hoka for doing this shoe right!

Relatively stiff, firm, narrow shoe.....Primarily a New Balance More 3 user for all trail running. Me - 155lbs, 52 year old, 30-50MPW... neutral heel landings. Looking for possible replacement of the now defunct More 3 Model. This shoe will not be it. Love the Hoka colors though!!! In size D, this unit is extremely narrow. Tongue is nice and padded. I went with EE. Lace all the way up. Went for about 4 minutes up false flat uphill and could feel: slight heel lift and a relatively firm midsole. Mach 5s feel more cushioned, way more cushioned. The fore foot is also stiff - that's the midsole not flexxing much. After 4 minutes, I went back to car and put on Mach 5s. Hmmmmm, this Challenger feels a bit clunky and firm. I feel like I"m pedaling squares in this shoe. The colors are nice, the ride is not that fun. I'd like to see an ultra Mach 5 - now that would be rad - more midsole on a Mach 5 style shoe!!!!!!!
