Excellent Trainer, Never lets me downI have roughly 230 miles on one pair. Im very tempted to get another pair before they run out. One of the best uppers Ive worn in 20 years. Great lock down, no blisters and an appropriate amount of room in the toe box. I use these on dry trails, dirt roads, paved roads etc. This is the first rockered shoe Ive owned and I think it has just the right amount of that. Fresh Foam X isn't as bouncy as some of the new super foams Ive tried but it is comfortable and it feels natural. Maybe Im getting old but a shoe I can trust to run whatever without leaving me with surprise injuries is pretty appealing. Yes the outside of the midsole and the outsole are showing wear from running on Arizona dirt/rocks but it doesn't hurt the way they run. The upper shows no wear. I will probably push this pair to 250 or 300 miles but if I was on a tight budget Im sure they could go further.

Run large!Unfortunately these are not true to size. I wear size 11 in almost all running shoes and a size 11 is at least a half size, if not a full size too large. Way too much room in front of my big toe. I'd at least order a half size down from your usual. Other than that, a great shoe with a smooth ride and great cushioning for an everyday trainer.

1080 DeliversI rotated the NB 1080 into my normal NB Rebel use recently and am very happy with the choice. These deliver a cushioned ride for me in distances 5k through 10 miles so far. I plan to run a half in them as I break them in. Fit as ordered. They are firm in support. I've encountered no traction issues or areas of discomfort. Love the color.

Rotation shoeI recently purchased the NB 1080 v 12 to function as a rotation shoe. I have run in the NB Rebel for the last 3 years and will probably continue to. The 1080 offers a soft feeling with strides, fit properly to sizing, and met my price goals. I would offer that on smoother damp surfaces like brick and worn wood I have experienced a minor slip feeling in the front toe area. Overall I am very happy with my 1080 purchase which was delivered on time from RW. Mike NW Georgia 30 plus year runner

Didn't hold up on a long runI ran a couple of short (<5 miles) runs and the shoes did great. However this past weekend I ran a 15.5 mile training run in them and the inside bottom insoles rolled up on both shoes after about 10 miles. At first I thought it was my socks. I stopped at a park bench to take off the shoes thinking I had to adjust my socks. Nope, the bottom insoles on both shoes had slide down and bunched up mid foot. I was able to adjust the midsoles. However after only 1 more mile the right insole again started to bunch up. I have less than 5 runs in these shoes and now I cannot count on them for anything longer than 4-5 miles. I am going to attempt to gorilla glue the insoles but I shouldn't have to repair running shoes after just a few runs. I would not recommend this shoe as a long distance trainer.

Comfortable, but heavyThese are comfortable at slow paces, but heavy and definitely not for tempo paces, and probably not for anyone with a fore or mid foot strike. Have finished a few runs in these barefoot, as they made my legs and feet very tired.

The sweet spotNB has hit the sweet spot with the 1080. It is very cushioned but not TOO soft like a Hoka or high stack Asics. No achilles problems with this shoe! It is a road shoe but I have run two trail 100k ultras in them because they are simply the best shoe I can put on.

Great shoe - but needs adjustmentsNB 1080 V12 is a great distance shoe. But the V11 heel was simpler, more comfortable. Numerous 1080 V12 wearers experience rub on the ankle bones due to the heel. Needs adjustments.

Delivers what expected of a TrainorI have heard a lot about the 1080's over the past years. I think my experience is pretty consistent with the reviews I have read. That is, this shoe is everything one expects out of a good daily Trainor. It is a comfortable, well fitting, has a great upper, well built, good quality and adequate cushion in the fresh foam mid sole. The one negative is that this shoe runs big. I Wear a 10.5 and the 10.5's run like an 11. I have heard this cited a lot in the 1080 v12 reviews. That it runs a half size long. I would not buy this shoe again only because I prefer the extra cushioning in the fresh foam X More. The two models are very similar except for that one difference, - the additional cushioning in the X MORE. Knowing the Fresh Foam line and the fuel cell line both very well, I think if New Balance made a 1080 hybrid with the midsole made of FuelCell material rather than Fresh Foam and kept everything else as is, I am convinced that that's a shoe I would buy 20 pair of. However, the 1080 as is, works and works well for its intended purpose.

Worth the waitLove these. I tried them on months ago and fell in love. I ended up getting a pair of glycerin on sale instead which worked out fine. When I was ready for a new pair I came back to the 1080s and I'm glad I did. Very soft. Like stepping on a bag of marshmallows.

Heavy and feels like bricksI have been enjoying the 1080 since the beginning and I used them for my daily running's (45-50 a week). I have never had issues with them and in fact I was even going beyond the 500 miles. The V12 however is different. I am having knee issues and the shoes is heavy. I have about 200 miles, and I am not getting the comfort and that smooth ride feeling the previous version were known for. Hopefully the next version will much better, until then I am using the older version which is nearing to 700 miles :(

Too hot, chunky soles, my knees hurt.I was pretty stunned by how bad these were given the cost. I am in the Northeast of the USA, so it's currently winter. Nevertheless, I was roasting while I wore these. I sweat through my shirt at an absurd degree given that I run in the morning when the thermostat reads freezing or colder. My clothes weren't the problem, I run in a t shirt in shorts. I retired a pair of Reebok Harmony Road 3s at approximately 450 miles right before these. Wearing those shoes hurts my feet less than these, and I only wore these for 6 miles of running. Furthermore, these make my knees swell. The sole is just massive and heavy, I feel like I have bars of soap runner banded to the bottom of my feet. Not slippery, just…rocky feeling. Already have them packed up for a return.

Everyday Running ShoeThis is my son's everyday running shoe. He absolutely loves them. He has had many prior models of this shoe as well, and has had no problems with the shoes and no bodily physical problems either. The shoes are also built to last too.

Great running shoesI am new yo running. I also have wide feet. The shoes I bought are 10.5 extra wide (4x). They are very comfortable with a lot of impact support. They are also very light. I will def buy these again.

They feel like bricksIt is not soft and it is not flexible. Feel like bricks and they aggravated by plantar tendon. I blame the full length fresh foam. I wore the V-11 for a year and went through four pair (durability problem- could only get 200+ miles per shoe). I can't wear the V-12. I wore a size 13 in the V-11 and I downsized to a 12.5 in the V-12 and that was needed. It fit like a 13 in the V-11. These shoes are too expensive and not worth the money.

Good shoe but not for me, a 60 year old.I have been running for 45 years and am searching for a shoe that allows me to run pain free. This shoe will most likely work for most runners but it did not have enough cushion in the heel area for me. I had to return the shoes in my search for a shoe with adequate cushioning.

Cushioning idea is great, but in reality NOThe idea of having a soft foam under the feet sounds like a great idea to reduce the jarring impact when running or walking long distances. However, the the softness of the sole strains my feet, and the lack of support, makes my feet hurt, while I am WALKING (before I even complete 300 ft). I reduced the strain on my feet, by adding a stiffer inner sole. I have not yet used the shoe for running. My advice is to test out the shoe, perhaps on tread mill, before committing to it.

One of few shoes wide enough for meThe 1080 is usually narrow and offered with a wide option, I measure at a 2e but the wide option for the 1080s is not wide enough still. The 4e fits perfectly and is great for long and easy runs. The shoe does wear out pretty quickly so if you have a rotation these shoes will fit perfectly in as something you can always rely on

Comfortable and SturdyUsing these to train for my first ultra and they have felt very good over appx. 100 miles of use. Light and comfortable but sturdy. I do not feel every bump in the road or every bit of gravel I step on. I have been loyal to prior iterations of the 1080s and like the v12s as a more stable version (in my mind). Whereas the v11s wore through more easily, these have been hardier. Very pleased.

Very good shoeShoe fits true to size, is very comfortable, and looks good. Shoe seems to have a bit of a break in period, then it gets a bit softer. Not a overly soft or mushy shoe at all, somewhat responsive, and well balanced ride.

New Ballance 1080V12I enjoyed the 1080V10 and went through two pairs. We I ran in the V12 the biggest difference was the toe box was considerably warmer. Running in a hot and humid area it was a major disappointment. The heal was much more comfortable in the V10 than in the 12.

Good but outdatedVery comfortable shoe. Buy a half size down. Excellent for wide feet even in normal width (D). However the midsole is a bit boring and the shoes are heavy. I have several New Balance FuelCell shoes and they are much better at the same price.

Great shoe, but it depends on the size.I wear a size 10 in Nike and New Balance everything. However, I'll compare these to the New Balance Fresh Foam Move V3. I'll also give some insight on what it feels like to go a half size down, to a 9.5. Quick and easy thought, go down a half size. I went with a 9.5 instead of my usual size 10. However, I think if you do this, it changes the feel of how the shoe is suppose to fit. To me, going a half size down provides a more locked in feel. My foot sits in the shoe nicely, not too snug, but not as comfortable as a size 10 Fresh Foam More V3. This is my first pair of 1080s, so I'm not sure if it's suppose to have a more snug fit or if it should feel a little roomier like the Fresh Foam More V3. I really enjoy the fit of the Fresh Foam More V3 in my usual size 10. Going down a half size makes this shoe feel like a Nike Invincible Run in a size 10. In that shoe the toe box was a little too narrow for me, but not a deal breaker, and after 250 miles it started to bother my pinky toes (left and right foot). In comparison, the 1080-V12 has a slightly roomier toe box in a half size down, however it is a little snug when compared to the Fresh Foam More V3 in my usual size 10. It feels like maybe 1-2 millimeter smaller on my left foot and maybe 2-3 millimeters smaller on my right foot when compared to the Fresh Foam More 3 in my usual size 10. My right big toe slightly rubs against the front of the shoe, but again not a deal breaker. I've been wearing these shoes for 6 hours straight and they're starting to feel a little snug. Maybe it's from sitting all day at work or from the 7 miles of hills I ran yesterday. I also think maybe the socks I'm wearing are a little thick (cushion socks). It could also be a combination of everything. I guess it all depends on how you like to wear your shoes. I bought these for medium to slow pace long runs and for casual wear. With that in mind, going down a half size works. If these "stretch" over the weeks they will fit perfect for me.

Previous Feedback

Comments: First to start off- I brought this shoe a 1/2 size smaller! I wear a size 11 in Asics Glide 1+2, Noosa 13, Nike Pegues 38, Saucony Shift 2...New Balance 1080 v12 size 10.5. The upper material is fantastic- breathable and wraps the foot well. The tongue is gusset which helps with the lock down. The midsole material is the perfect cushioning New Balance offers- fresh foam X. The best part of this shoe- New Balance corrected the neck of the shoe. Last years v11- the heal cup had the heal slip at times in the run. The v12 neck collar is plush and holds the heal in place. The 1080 v12 is the perfect cushion ride for a daily trainer.
