Cushiony, great energy returnWore these shoes for several long runs and track workouts during marathon training, and for the marathon itself (although they are just trainers). As someone who has problem feet (bunions), they're a great option for D width runners. Did not experience any pain on the bunion or forefoot/metatarsal bones (as I typically do with other shoes) during the marathon. Only note is that a stone got stuck in the "energy arc" but shouldn't be an issue if you stay on pavement.

This ones are much better than last versionI have both versions V1 and V2, and seriously diference is so much! In a good way I have feel improvement and more stability in my ankle with these ones, last version used to gave me shin splits but with this one that issue is gone. Althought I do feel this one are heavier that last version, also at my first run a rock deform a little of my shoe sole, which is a little sad but otherwise that didnt affect me to run at 4:00/km.

Not-good, not badI really enjoyed the SC Trainer v1--it was plus and gave my legs a break after tough workouts. It was a great recovery-day shoe, so I was excited to try the v2. Unfortunately, this shoe is a bit firmer/less-plush. I'd describe it as a very medium-firmness, which reflects on the shoe as a whole. I can tell New Balance tried to be less polarizing and please more people with this shoe, but in doing so, made it mid at best for everyone, rather than exceptional for the people who like it. I'll still be using this shoe on my easy days because it's expensive, but it isn't the cream of the crop like it's predecessor.

Far from greatI fell in love with the FuelCell midsole with the Rebel v3. Very soft yet still springy! I needed a shoe with a higher stack for longer runs to protect my injury-prone legs. I was hoping the SC Trainer v2 would be that shoe. It was not. For starters, it runs really big! The Rebel fit perfectly in my usual women's 8. I went down to a 7.5 in the SC Trainer and it still feels very roomy. There's a lot of puckering in the upper, especially the tongue, and it is hard to get a good lockdown. Plus, lace bite is a problem. These shoes are not the best choice for those who run on gravel roads a lot. There is a big open groove on the bottom of each shoe that likes to collect large rocks! Now the good. I have a boney growth on the back of my heel which easily gets irritated by most shoes. These are the only shoes in my arsenal that allow me to run without heel pain! For that reason alone I will continue to use these shoes.

Great all purpose showUse these as my daily trainers. Very comfortable and spacious in the toe box. A touch bulky but not really meant to be speedy anyway. Overall, high quality in just about every way.

Great for walkingI LOVED the original version of this shoe- highest stacks with best return before Adidas. Unfortunately I could not get a good lockdown on this and subsequent versions and the offset and stack super modified (not in a good way)

I had to returnI researched this shoe and it is said to be a great shoe for running! I’m thinking it probably is however the shape didn’t fit my narrow arch area. The heel felt fine but is was way too roomy on the sides before the metatarsal area.

Not so greatToo squishy. The upper hit my foot weird near the first toe joint. Was hoping this was going to work. Hopefully new version is better

Sloppy lockdown10.5 was too small in length and 11 was too sloppy on the lockdown to be able to run in. Had to return for a 10.5 superblast.

Great, versatile shoeThis shoe is awesome. It's my first introduction to a plated shoe and it's really impressive. Not super light so it's not a racer (not supposed to be), but it's a near perfect uptempo long run shoe. I love that they come in wide, which is really hard to find in performance oriented shoes. This one feels like maybe the best all around trainer I've ever had.

Marathon approved.Love these shoes! I ended up buying them toward the end of my training cycle, wore them for a couple of long runs, and then saved them for race day. My feet felt incredible the entire marathon and never had any issues. Would recommend for long runs or any type of runs if you are just a casual runner.

Great shoes for easy run to speed workoutThe shoes offer a great balance between springiness and cushioing. You get a good energy return while it provides proper cushioning to absorb the impact load. From short to long runs it delivers a smooth ride. Although more suitable for the faster side of the spectrum, it still gives a comfortable feel on easy days. So far my best favorite NB shoes. Just be aware that due to the stack height you might feel awkward on turns or rough surface specially if you are not an experienced runner but you will get used to it. Highly recommend.

Very Versatile Shoe!I love my SC Trainer v2! I’m glad I bought it! It’s so comfortable and plush whenever you need it especially at slower paces (13min/mi) and can give you that pop once you pick up the speed! I personally use this for my long and easy runs only because I got other racers in the rotation that I need to use. Also, it just keep my legs fresh and ready for the harder workouts. Regardless, if I’m gonna pick one shoe out of my rotation, it’ll be this!

Great - not perfectThese are excellent shoes. Super cushy. Responsive. Bouncy on pavement. I love them for my long runs during marathon training. I’ve done pace runs and 20 milers in them and they’re great. A couple things I’ve noticed are that they run a little big, which makes it challenging to lock them down. You can get there, but it’s not easy. I also notice that the cushion in these tends to reduce your turnover just a bit. Great shoes. Just not perfect

Durability issuesLet me fist say I love the fit and feel of this shoe. In my personal opinion the midsole feels a little softer and less energetic than v1, but overall a great feeling shoe. What I am not happy with, however, is the durability of this shoe. I bout these from RW the first week of August and have about 100 miles on them. The limited rubber on the heel has already worn through and peeled leaving me running solely on the midsole in that area. I’m getting used to less durability in shoes, but one month and 100 miles is a bit extreme.

Great shoe, imperfect sizing for my feetI first ordered women's 8.5 which is my normal running shoe size in other brands. I loved the shoe but found myself only wearing my thinnest running socks and being distracted by how the shoes felt a bit short in the toe box. After a couple of weeks, I decided they were too small, so I exchanged them for the women's 9. The 9s feel much better on my toes, but they're a bit loose on the tops of my feet near the base of my toes toward the metatarsal area. I have to tie the laces extra tight and retie halfway through a long run. If only they made a size 8.75 they'd be perfect (ha-ha)!

Super comp V2After using V1 I was hoping for some adjustments to V2..the changes really weren't the ones I was hoping for..instead V2 is a new shoe that doesn't capture the things I liked about V1..the foam is not the same and doesn't give the nice bounce of V1..it also doesn't roll nice smoothly thru the gait cycle..so far the forefoot cushioning hasn't flattened yet so at least that is a plus..it's still a nice shoe but not a great shoe..happy that I stocked up on V1..

Great shoe but not for meThe foam in this shoe was amazing and I would have loved to wear it for my long runs, but it flared up both my plantar fasciitis and my Achilles tendonitis after a few runs, so I had to return it unfortunately. Not sure what the problem was, but after I stopped running in this shoe my symptoms went away.

Not sure about these…I love the SC Elite shoes…. Great foam… good upper (though I know some dislike the sock-like knit fit)… carbon plate / energy arc. So I was eager to try something a bit more substantial for everyday training that would be like the SC Elite but with a bit more durability and expected longevity. This shoe feels a bit more “dead” to me - neither as responsive nor as cushioned nor as bouncy. And it is still pretty heavy. I do not have as many miles in it as other trainers I have simply because I just hadn’t enjoyed running in it as much and reach for other shoes for the comparable mileage. I need to put more miles in them bit my early impressions are that I would more likely wear them casually when I know I have to spend a lot of time on my feet and train in other models. It’s a shame because New Balance has some other great shoes…. I am simply unsure about these.

More comfortable than V1I ordered both V1 and V2, and the V1 was noticeably firmer, despite the taller cushion. I have sensitive feet and am not a heel striker, so the V2 is probably better suited to me. The step-in feeling reminded me more of the soft and squishy sensation I get from the Rebel V3 and the Elite V3. The Trainer V1 was probably great if you were able to really compress the firmer FuelCell with your body weight, so I think it really depends on your stride, core strength and efficiency. The V2's decreased drop has the effect of increasing the forefoot height vs the V1, so for me it may actually have a more cushioned ride overall. The V2 has slightly less of the rolling feeling at the very tip of the shoe, but it isn't that big of a difference. If anything, I should be able to "pop" off of the front of this shoe more easily since I can compress it more easily and activate the plate better than I could the V1. Size-wise, the V1 is smaller than expected and the V2 is larger than expected. The V1 in 11.5 2E for me was too narrow and tight, while the V2 12.0 2E was so loose that my heel slipped out even with tight lacing, and the width was very accommodating. The width alone makes me want to give it five stars. Too few manufacturers know how to make a shoe that actually fits a wider midfoot, not just the toe box. Although slightly squishier to step in,, the V2 feels noticeably more stable around the heel area than the V1, and the upper is much more easy to slip into and feels all-around more "familiar" as a shoe. I preferred the traditional looks of the previous generation but this new one is growing on me. At this point I think the perfect NB training shoe for someone like me might actually the SC Elite in Wide, if they ever make one--and hopefully they can fix the pointy ankle collar rubbing issue in the next release. For now I think I will stick with this V2 Trainer, which should hold up better than the Elite on gravel trails I run on anyway.

DisappointingI had high hopes for these but was left disappointed by the sloppy upper and too soft midsole which added up to a clunky feeling shoe. You would never know there was a carbon plate in the midsole. If anything, these shoes made me work harder.

The most versatile carbon plated shoe?I mix in some marathon pace and sometimes tempo pace into my long runs, so I was looking for a long run shoe that can pick up the pace. (I'd been using the Adidas Prime X but it's very unstable and I find the upper uncomfortable.) The SuperComp Trainer v2 has turned out to be a really good choice: it's comfortable, stable, and the midsole works with the carbon plate when you want to pick it up. I actually bought the Asics Superblast at the same time and ended up keeping both even though they're for similar uses. It's a close call, but I think if I had to choose I might go with the Superblast: it's more forgiving on easy days, and lighter for longer runs. The SC Trainer v2 probably has a higher top speed, but I doubt I'd use it for racing any distance: there are nimbler shoes for shorter races and lighter shoes for longer races. But maybe I'm being too harsh: this is may be the most comfortable, versatile (and possibly durable?) carbon plated shoe out there. So if you value versatility, it might literally be the best choice on the market. But if you're looking for specificity, I think its best use case is long training runs where you want to mix in some speed, and as I said for me the Superblast may be slightly better for that.

Best marathon training shoes.I have been training with this shoes for one month. So far I can say it is perfect for long runs, comfortable, you feel the carbon plate working at fastest pace, but you can train at lower paces whitout problems.

A little clunky and confusingI got these because I have the Super Comp Elite's for racing and was in need of some new daily trainers. The "Super trainer" is a new thing and I was definitely interested. Unfortunately this shoe didn't cut it for me.. It felt clunky and not well configured. The springiness of the plate is non existent and on multiple runs I would have to stop[ multiple times to re-adjust the laces or tongue after they had moved and started to hurt. After about 5 total runs in them my lower legs started to develop some pains and I called it a day on these shoes.

Lost the magic of the previous modelDont see the need to change so much something that worked great before. And dont see the need to make every shoe race legal wich is Im guessing the reason the changes were so profund. If you are a heal or a mid/back stricker you are OK, but the previous model also worked for mid/front to front stricker because the stack was so high, this doesnt have that nor the super plush but fast feeling the preview model had. Please change it back so we can have the whole Volume (super comp) /Speed (pacer)/Race (Elite) platform you had before. Also they run about half a size wider than the other.

SC v2I really like this trainer. I've been running 5K since 2005, and this is the best trainer for my kind of running. I wear other New Balance for different runs. This particular shoes is going to last, and looks great. New Balance is really hitting the spot for me these days. But I will say, I take care of my running shoes, and never wear it for anything other than running, never for lifting weights. This way I can keep track of the miles to avoid injuries such shin splints, and foot problems.

NB SuperComp Trainer V2I was beyond ecstatic to try out V2 from the photos alone. V1 was an all time favorite and somehow brought me back from plantar fasciitis. I’ve had 5 pairs of V1 and have ran over 2000 miles in them. So, V2. Another reviewer noted knee pain. I don’t know why, but from step in, my left knee hurts. And it only worsen when I tie them up for a run. They are very squishy compared to V1. The reduced stack height might have been find if they had maintained the same ride or V1. I want V2 to work so much, but not at the cost of inuring my left knee. The roll V1 had is also neutral or almost gone in comparison to V1. I do like the updated heal. The upper overall feels a bit big and sloppy. This update is a miss for me. I’m stocking up on V1 where ever I can find them. Really though, why y’all (NB) get rid of the rad and crazy 46 mm stack? Who cares if it was illegal by the IAAF. Nobody is gonna make an Olympic team in V1…it’s a trainer!

Couldn't Trust v2Really wanted to love these and they just didn't work as hoped. The change is the stack from v1 to v2 really was fine. My issue was the change in the Fuel Cell composition. It is much less dense, which just made the shoe compress way too much resulting in a overly squishy ride that I could just never grow to trust for anything over an hour long easy run. If you just want easy runs out of them, they might work. Foam this soft would do very well in the two foam combinations many of the other super trainers are adopting. Hopefully in v3...

Only 1 issue...Never had the V1s, so can't compare. I had the Superblasts, were too firm for the easy miles I do mostly. I bought these and they are amazing! They have been awesome for all my slower, easy, and medium paced runs. However, after 60 miles, the tongue has slid slightly down, just a couple of millimeters, but enough to put a ripple at the very bottom, and the outer section of the tongue is hard, so I ended up having extreme pain on the top of my foot on the small bone or tendon of the large toe. So much so, that to run in them 2 days later I had to make a gel pad from an old Dr Scholl's insert to put in my sock on top of my foot. That worked. All the tongue needs to be is softer and more padded, and the laces to line up better with the tongue loop to hold the tongue up. I ended up using the next higher row of laces to keep upward tension on the tongue.

DisappointingI loved the V1. One of my all time favorite shoes. It would be fine if they made the shoe slightly lower but they have also flattened out the sole so that there is very little rocker left in the front. V1 was special, this is just another okay shoe.

Disappointing NB V2I purchased the original New Balance Fuelcell supercomp trainer and wore it out because the shoe was so comfortable and responsive, I used it as an everyday trainer on the road and trail. The stack height was gigantic yes but not bothersome, I think that was the intention anyway to provide a very plush ride with some rebound in the foam, and the added plate too. One caveat, the foam breaks down quickly off road exposing the plate. The sizing was fine, lock-down too. I was excited and curious how NB was going to drop the weight, which I would say wasn't overly heavy to begin with. I received my V2 the other day and immediately I wasn't super stoked. The rocker profile felt too flat, the foam seemed to be a different, too squishy, the toe box felt a tad narrower. I'll probably keep the V2 just for easy runs however. I may try to find and stock up on the original shoes if possible.

Long May You RunGreetings. Violated rule of respected running P.T. Jay Dicharry by wearing pretty much the same shoes for every run last year. Purchased two of the V1 and wore them for just about every run-even light trail running-while training for a 52 mile trail ultra. Wore V2 for opening 10 mile run. Perks: Does feel somewhat lighter, has adequate pop-was able to churn a negative split with ease despite temps. Reside in Deep South Texas where the heat dome has been present since mid June and V2 seems to breath better. Con: Feels ever so slightly larger than the standard 10.5 worn but not a deal breaker. Can we acknowledge New Balance for providing such an incredible shoe to folks with 2E feet! Now if they could bring back a top like the D2D as mine are going on 7 years and are the only shirts I wear...yes, it's the same guy again. Apologies to Jay as I just ordered my second pair. Thank you for your time.

V2 is better than V1I just tried the V2 with 2E wide for 6 miles, I have no complains about this shoe with its perfect size, super comfy on the top and super cushioned in the bottom. Only thing I need to mention is that you need strong ankles for the 1 mile If you have to run uphill and down hill.

Perfect fit, more stable and sensibleI liked the SC v1 ride a lot but the fit was awful. The v2 fit is perfect but the ride isn’t as fun. However… I kinda feel like these shoes are more sensible for their purpose. They’re daily trainers. They shouldn’t be super propulsive. They’re propulsive enough stable enough and comfortable. To me they’re a better version of the sluggish Nimbus 25.

Mixed bag, knee issues a dealbreakerI went through two pairs of the original SC trainers and they were one of my all time favorites. My only wishes shared with others were for them to be a touch lighter and more stable. This shoe delivers those wishes but unfortunately for some reason gives me lingering knee pain that makes them unusable (I went thousands of miles without knee issues until using this shoe - the issue subsided a week after I stopped using them). Only other gripe is the toe box is tighter than the v1 in size 13. Not unbearable but slight pressure on the top of my big toe becomes irritating after a few miles. With all the lighter max cushion trainers out there these days, I don't see a reason to go back to the v1, so for now I'll hold my breath for the v3.
