  • Flywire technology midfoot band
  • Nike React midsole
  • Versatile traction from the generative outsole

Over-engineered in my opinionI'm a minimalist for sure when it comes to shoes so take this with a grain of salt if you like a lot of structure underfoot... For me, the Pegasus Trail just feels like a "normal" shoe, if that makes any sense. I got em for a trail race and they felt great out of the box but they felt unbalanced in the race. Too much sole for me - felt like I could roll an ankle very easily if I wasn't careful. Has a slippery, plastic-y, feel that soooo many shoes have these days, sadly. On the plus side, they are rad for work. They are super comfortable and plush so doing 20,000 steps in them is fine as long as you're not doing 20,000 steps at race pace :)

When I get a good pair, they're great!Excellent shoe with one caveat. I love the arch support--one of the few shoes that has a good one--and my plantar fasciitis has felt the best in these shoes while running decent miles. They're great for most trails but especially for smoother/really runnable trails--I wouldn't call them technical mountain running shoes which is fine. I like the fast feel of them even if I'm not running fast in them--but especially if I'm throwing in some "speed work." The caveat? It seems Nike has some mfg issues. I've had to return a few pairs immediately because of two issues--one, sometimes the upper is attached to the midsole in an everted manner--so as soon as you put them on (or look at them from behind), they're everted which puts a lot of stress on the posterior tib tendon and medial ankle --- injury waiting to happen. Others are perfectly aligned and feel great. Second, some shoes have had very stiff achilles notch areas and immediately impact the achilles in a painful manner even with walking. So I really hope Nike dials their mfg in because I'd buy several more pairs of this model.

Pegasus TrailShoe has a good solid feel. The top is a little soft which allows for more slippage of my foot inside on the downhill than I like but much better than the previous version of the Pegasus Trail. I've been comfortable wearing it on both trail and street. Haven't yet gone more than 10 miles on one run in the shoe. I'll have more to say after a longer run. I've worn Nike running shoes for 45 years and my knees are still ok :)

Big Switch IMOI can only compare to the 3's, but the toe box on these feels smaller and the back digs into my ankle. The flywire lockdown does provide more stability compared to the 3's and the outsole feels more rugged. Because of the immediate ankle discomfort, I was unable to test them out.

Check other reviewsI like the Pegasus Trail 4 except for 3 main things--toe box is crazy shallow, back half of outsole needs redesign as it catches on everything and slows the run too much, midsole bulges to offer arch support and not comfortable. The GORE-TEX version is not a full GORE-TEX upper (numerous wet foot reviews and Nike does confirm not full GORE-TEX) and does not have the fly wire tech. Having run the Pegasus in a thunderstorm, I really like the fly wire's lockdown when the upper is soaked through. Solereview has a great break down and comparison between the two models

Too soft and too hot for me, for trails espFit is great and true to size (I like low volume shoes), and it's super comfy for casual wear. But on the trail, it's way too soft; on the uneven ground it's constantly rocking left and right because it's so spongy...which makes me use too much lower leg/ankle muscles to keep from rolling. I don't see why it gets the praise for it's road use either...it feels heavy, and the cushion "feels" more like gel than foam. And I thought the Speedgoat was soft...this is much more so. I feel no airflow through it either.

24 hour reviewDesperate for something I can run in so big thanks to Runningwarehouse as always. Three things noticed in first 24 hours- Shallow toe box, especially front bumper section. Mega built up arch area that extends far into foot bed. Really unpleasant on one foot and tried completely flat insoles to no effect. I can understand "unstable " comments and I think its terrian dependent. Feels fine on mild single track and both dirt and asphalt roads but definitely not for rocky roughness.

best road to trail shoe. ever.the star here is the react foam - great energy and keeps your legs feeling fresher during all the miles in training. improved outsole grip and somehow shaving an ounce from the peg trail 3 are game changers for this model.

Not for meTrue to size , Great energy return … but once you hit the trails super unstable, just doesn't work for me.

Great easy trail runnerSoft cushion and good breathability make this a great show that handles mildly technical trails and roads very well. I bring this everywhere I travel since it has the widest range of capability, it can get you through rough trails even if it's not happiest there.

As hybrids go, doing just fineI normally use the Altra Timp or Nike Kiger. I'm nursing a hamstring pull and tried to run again in the Timp and there was intolerable pain after a mile. I use low profile trail shoes for stability: I broke my foot wearing a Pegasus Trail and not paying attention. So here I am again. The deal is, the heel to toe differential helps my hamstring BUT is unstable, and the reverse is true. This version is a great ride on the concrete, soft on trail, but unstable as heck. I think the first 100 yards I ran I twisted my ankle. You just can't take your eye off the ball when you use these. Hopefully I get back to normal and never have to say I didn't learn my lesson with these.
