Featuring top-of-the-line shoe tech in a lightweight package, this shoe has the performance and versatility to be your go-to shoe when it comes to faster training and race day. Giving this shoe the pop and resiliency needed to reach top performance is the NITRO Elite foam midsole and innovative carbon fiber PWRPLATE. Lastly, the mono-mesh upper provides a snug race-day fit that is breathable enough to bring the comfort on long tempo runs or intense speed training days. Overall, the PUMA Deviate Nitro Elite 2 is the perfect option for runners who want that race-day feeling on more days than just the ones where you toe the starting line.

Little narrowSeemed like an okay shoe, but not great for people with wide feet. Runs a touch small, so I would recommend going 1/2 size up.

Buy the non 75th anniversary color ways.If you want to try these Puma's and save a few bucks, buy the non 75th anniversary edition color ways. This version costs more. I'm writing my review based on the first edition of this shoe. Version mostly white (and little blue) colorway cost me $75(shipped from North East England running company via eBay). Weighed in at 6.7 oz for US size 9 men's. I hate the tongue. It's very thin and hurts like hell. Takes me some time to get the right tie, not too tight and not too loose. 2 days ago, I tried 3 times to get the right tie down. I have just about 200 miles on my pair. The Puma Grip is awesome. Other runners and reviewers rave about Puma Grip. I use them for all runs. Track, road, and light trails. This version 2 has gained almost a full ounce. 7.5 oz for men's 9. The reviewers say the upper is much improved and they fixed the tongue. I wished they just fixed the tongue and kept the weight down under 7 oz. The new super shoe by Adidas is at 5.1 oz. You could train in this Puma at 7.5 oz and race a marathon in the lighter shoes. I have only owned and trained in one other super shoe. Brooks Hyperion Elite 1. It also weighed in at about 6.5 oz for a Men's 9. They built it not to last (allegedly). I think I put 2-3x the amount of miles they told us it was rated for. I think you can keep going if it works for you and the grip is still decent. The Brooks Hyperion Elite 1 was not in the same league, in my opinion as the Puma Deviant Elite 1. With Puma, I have less fatigue and pain in my knees and shins. Some hard effort days, fell like I never even ran the previous days. With Brooks Hyperion Elite 1 and normal training shoes, this has never been the case for me. *44 years 6'1 156 lbs. 1:29 half. 19 mins 5k. Plan is to break a 5 min mile for the first time in my life at age 45 and run my first marathon next summer.

Return to NormalcyThanks to Puma for creating one of the best shoes that I’ve had the pleasure to run in quite a while. The lack of over-cushioning and a perfectly placed carbon plate has resulted in a shoe that just wants to go no matter the distance or terrain. Strange color choices but still a great shoe for everything from 5k to marathon.

Seriously GREATBecause I was having a bit of trouble with ALL of the high stack “super duper” shoes out there, I thought I’d give Puma a try. What a great surprise! FYI, I am not a heavyset runner. I’m not sponsored by one of the many fine shoe companies out there. I just find these shoes have managed to take all of the positives that I’ve found in running and put them into these amazing shoes.

Faster than it feelsThis shoe is kind of a conundrum for me. On initial step in, and even the first coupe miles of each run, It feels like it doesn’t quite work for me. My foot wants to fall inward, even though im a neutral runner and have never really needed stability shoes… I noticeably hear/feel myself heel dragging in them… the upper, despite being on a narrow, race fit last feels too stretchy and loose, like my foot wants to slide around in them… the forefoot feels like it wants to bottom out a little on toe-off… they don’t feel particularly fast.. But then, something strange happens a couple miles in… I get in a groove and they kind of disappear, the cushioning/pop starts to feel just right, they seem to work perfectly with my stride… then I realize my pace is faster than expected for my perceived effort, and every time I end up running longer and faster than I have with any other shoes lately, and as I’m running I find myself thinking I could really crush a half marathon in these…. So the results are there, I just can’t pinpoint how they get there for me, or why they consistently go from feeling just ok to amazing during the course of a run in them. Maybe it has to do with me picking up my pace for those first few miles, starting at around 7-7:15 pace and working down to around 6:30 pace, and they really do have a sort of pace/effort threshold…. I know some reviews speak of this for other CPRs (carbon plated racers), but I’ve never really experienced that sensation myself until this shoe.

great feel for speedI'm not a fan of shoes with tall stack height, so I gave these a shot. They're not as fast as other super shoes, but they fit like a glove. Not too narrow like my Hokas. Have done a few half Ironmans in them with no socks and haven't had a single problem. Would highly recommend these up to half marathon distance, but I am not sure if I'll take them for a full marathon.

Great to C Puma come back!I grew up with Puma, then it seems overnight Nike Air hit the scene and all other brands took a far seat in the back. I love not only that they are back but they have shoes that are damn good contenders. Pros: - This is a user friendly marathon shoe no doubt. I did not run in the model above this one (Fast-R Nitro Elite) because that shoe has the "if you don't keep form and run the way I intended you to run you will suffer". Of course this is total speculation based on other top elite models having that very engineered look. But this shoe is awesome! I love the mid sole material. As I started to run in this shoe it struck me that the foam to the naked eye and touch, seems exactly like the fuel cell foam on the NB Fuel Cell Rebel 3. Then I literally ran with one shoe on one foot and the other on the other foot. I was amazed how close they are. The PUMAs felt just like the Rebel 3's if Rebel 3's had a carbon plate and the NB Rebels Felt like exactly like the PUMAS if the PUMAs did not have a carbon plate. I don't have a device that measures mid sole density nor any other tool. But again the material feels and looks exactly the same. For me this is great news because the NB FuelCell foam is on my top 2 materials list. I mean a great combination to me is using my rebel 3's as my daily trainer, and my PUMA's for races. I am definitely going to start giving serious looks to PUMA's other models. Way to go PUMA! Cons: - the shoe lace tongue is not gusseted. (this may be a pro to others, who knows). - Price - I wish PUMA prices did not sky rocket like the rest them. 200 is a lot of money for a shoe considered a up tempo daily trainer. That being said, still think this shoe is a 5!

Minimalist SupershoeIn a world where everyone wants max stack height, this shoe exists for those who want a minimalist feel, without the height. Super lightweight, and great ground feel.

Seriously underratedThis is one hell of a performer especially as every other super shoe has gotten more and more expensive. The new geometry on toe off is more aggressive and provides explosive pop when picking up the pace. They're comfortable and stable too!

Great option that won't break the bankThis is my 3rd pair of Puma running shoes over the last couple years. I have both the first and second version of the Deviate Nitro. The Elite is a great option for those wanting the features of a racing shoe but durability of a trainer. The foam is soft but not spongy. It has great responsiveness without having a super high stack height. In my men's size 12 these come in under 9 ounces as well, so in line with Endorphin Pro 3 and lighter than my Adios Pro 3. Great traction on the outsole without being plastered in rubber. Grips well on wet surfaces and feels pretty nimble around corners. Overall, I think these will last longer than some "super" shoes and provide a nice fitting upper with a carbon plate and premium, responsive foam.
