Much narrower then the original versionI loved the original version of these shoes. I went through 2 pairs of them for ultra marathons. I was very excited to get the 2's but unfortunately they'll be going back. The toe box is super narrow and uncomfortable. Back to the drawing board to find a new ultra shoe. Please bring back the wider toe box!

Great shoe but hs ONE big thing missingThese shoes were very comfortable right out of the box, they have great tread (I run on a mix of smooth trail and more technical/rocky trails in Colorado that are mostly dry), are stable, and are holding up great. I currently have about 300 miles on these and they still look and feel good and the tread hasn't worn much. However, the toe box is not wide enough for runs longer than about 10 miles when you tend to need more room from your feet swelling. I would love these SO much more if the toe box was wider and would likely buy the next version if they offered a wider toe box.

poor fitting upper, uninspiring rideThis shoe isn't terrible but definitely one of the worst I have tried in recent years. I was hoping this would be a good long run shoe and all arounder for base building but the drawbacks are too great with few positives. The good for me is the insole, surprised its not getting more attention. Super thick, cushy, PEBA insole/sockliner is really the best thing about this shoe. The midsole is firm, not bouncy, and the ride I did not find to be "smooth" but rather somewhat harsh despite the incredible insole, which is the only thing giving it a softer feel. It does not feel any more efficient than any other midsole foam, honestly. Worth mentioning I do my faster runs in the Salomon SLAB Pulsar or the Nnormal Kjerag. The upper is not great either, poor foot hold, poor heel hold and the thin tongue doesn't work on this shoe. Either my foot is swimming or I have to tighten the laces to the point of causing pain on the top of the foot. Even with a lace lock my heel is never secure feeling, likely caused my the shallow heel cup and ankle collar. I am left wondering if this shoe is just meant for bigger runners. The shallow heel/ankle and overly firm/rigid midsole makes me think this is just not a shoe meant for people under 200lbs. Its going back unfortunately.

Smooth ride, but disappointing durabilityRide is super smooth on flats, but a little clunky on steep climbs. This wouldn't be my first choice for technical terrain, as the shoe is quite tall. The biggest issue with this shoe is the outsole durability. After about 130 miles, some of the lugs are punched in or have been almost sheared off completely.

Much narrower than the first Xodus UltraInitially the shoe felt great when I tried it on and walked around the house. The fit was snug, especially in the heel, which was an improvement from the original Xodus Ultra. Unfortunately, what felt snug initially became constrictive when running on the trail. About a mile into the run, my forefoot began to go numb, which continued for the remainder of the run. The shape of the forefoot is more tapered than the original Xodus Ultra. Additionally, the fabric and rubberized toe bumper in the forefoot don't stretch, yielding an overly snug fit that didn't work for my normal volume foot. I was disappointed and had to return the shoes after one run. I'm very thankful for the 90 day exchange policy at Running Warehouse!

Finally!I’ve been waiting for this shoe to get a remake so it felt a lot less like a hiking boot and more of a shoe you can truly run in for long distances. I’ve been delighted by the support and response this shoe has. Only complaint are the crazy color schemes. Bring back the solid colors!

Relatively inflexible, but ultra smooth.....I would recommend this shoe for some specific runs. My bodyweight is 155lbs, 30mpw, 52 years old, mostly dirt trails. Was looking to see if this shared some of the characteristics of the E Rift - with a bit more cushioning. Love the outsole tread in dry/dusty/steep hardpan. Love the gentle full shoe rocker - this is an insanely fast trail shoe on level/ false flats!!!! The upper is too much tech: Debri guard - inner booty - and then the outer upper material - too much fabric/ mesh for me. One mesh booty like the E Rift is the way to go. I felt the toe box was a bit on the narrow side as well, not too narrow, but I could feel material pressing up against both sides of my toes. Generally, for me, the shoe is very fast on level-ish type of smooth terrain. Very fast. Once climbing begins, or rutted/ blown out trails begin, the shoe falters. The shoe felt stiff and not very flexible on climbs - I felt like I was placing way too much leverage on my heel. And then if the trail surface became wiggly, I feel like the shoe didn't flex with my foot, but rather remained rigid - it didn't adapt well to unpredictable wiggly/ sketch surfaces. I also felt that the heel width contact with the ground to be a bit narrow. Not bad, but as downhill speeds increase, a bit more heel flairing adds a lot to stability. Love the midsole cushion - not too pillowy, not too bouncy, not firm - very rad trail cushioning. I think this shoe may cater to runners with more medium toe splay. If there isn't a "performance" plate in the shoe, I like a more flexible shoe for trail running - toe box flex and full length twistable. Using these laces on Endorphin Rift. Shoe looks like super high quality

Accommodating do it all shoeI average 40-50 miles per week and have completed a bunch of ultras from 50K to 100 miles. I have ~220 miles in my pair, mainly hard rocky southwest trails but also some PNW dirt and some Sierra granite. In terms of width and volume, they are definitely wider than the Hoka Speedgoat and Peregrine 13 but not as much as say Altra or Topo. Good heel hold. Cushioning is comfortable and long lasting. I've done several all-day runs, hikes, and backpacking trips in them, all without issue. Upper durability could improve. By 180 miles, the outer fabric has holes around my toes but the inner mesh layer is intact. I haven't noticed any loss of stability or security but I tend to crank the laces in the middle of the foot and use heel lock lacing. Still, upper durability needs some work. I bought a second pair.

Amazing but suckThese trail shoes are near perfect. The foam is ultra durable, soft and springy, good ground feel but with adequate rock protection. The rubber is fairly soft and grippy in most condition yet can last for several hundred trail miles. The fit is true to size. The upper keeps the foot secure without overly tight lacing. The toebox is anatomically shaped and fits in between a euro foot and a open/splayed toe box. The improved (over V1) tongue/upper is a bit softer and does not have as hard and sharp of lace-eyelet-weld-bits, which the V1 does and occasionally irritated the top of foot. However and But!! But, unlike the V1 (which lasted +/- 800 miles, including Pine to Palm 100, Old Cascadia, backpacking, and daily trail running) these near perfect Xodus Ultra 2 blew out in the upper after 80 miles. 20 mellow taper miles and 60 Siskiyou Out and Back miles. (Side note: the Peregrine 12 did the same thing, tearing in less than 100 miles). The trails I run on are not rocky, seldom steep, and have few sticks. This is definitely a fabric issue and is ultra disappointing. Especially when so much of the shoe is so good! I don't know if other companies are updating thier foam yet, but like Adidas Boost foam, the Saucony PWRRUN PB foam is so good! However these shoes suck if they tear out in 80 miles.

Solid & grippy, good cushionI replaced my Hoka Speedgoats with these after Hoka changed their design and I'm very happy. They are stable (I tend to roll my ankle), grippy on dry trail, and have ample cushion and we're comfy out of the box. I live in CO and run on either sandy or rocky technical trails and these are doing great so far. No heel slip, haven't needed a "break-in" period yet but also haven't run over 8 mi in these at a time yet. I can't say much about how long they'll last since I've not put more than ~40 mi on these so far, and I don't know how they would do on wet but I suspect they would be fine. Like most sneaker companies, I wish there were more neutral color options for women's trail shoes like a nice evergreen.

Very unstableI typically LOVE Saucony, but these didn't work well for me at all. Very unstable on any trail that's not perfectly buffed out. I'm a seasoned trail runner, doing several races per year on all sorts of terrain. I've never turned more ankles and had more missteps then I did when I took these out for a 15k trail race on a course I've done several times. Would not recommend.
