Pay Attention to the Drop MeasurementI did not run in Hokas for many years because I need an 8-10 mm drop shoe. The Clifton 10's are the first pair I have found in the Hoka line that has an 8 mm drop. I have run 50 miles in these shoes, and they are exactly what I need.
However, for those who like the previous versions of the Clifton where the drop is 5 mm, you will not like these shoes. I sympathize with those who find a shoe they like and buy them year after year. But shoe companies will update shoes and turn them into something completely different. So my advice is to pay attention to the drop measurement which Running Warehouse does well to provide.

Bring Back the 9I've been wearing Clifton 9s for years, I loved them. I just bought a pair of 10s. Within 2 miles of running I had an intense pain in my shin. I immediately took the shoe off and put on an old pair of 9s, pain went away. I don't know what's different about the shoe but it's not good.
Since Clifton 6 …worse. G’bye Hoka.So sad to finally say Goodbye to Hoka. I have over 20 pairs and got so much mileage from them. Hoka started to narrow the Clifton around series 6 but I kept on buying them. Then the cushioning and fit changed. I tried switching to Bondi for its plushness but it’s not the old Clifton. Time to leave Hoka for good.

Worst Clifton yetI've been an avid Hoka Clifton runner since the first one came out. This shoe I started having issues from the beginning, blisters on bottom and side of foot. I wear the 2E wide version and this one is not comfortable at all compared to all others. Can't wait till the 11s come out as I am one very angry customer on this latest version. Hoka, you can do better!

DropDrop the drop. The Cliftons were my go to. About 12 pairs in the last 2 years. They were my high mileage beat down pair that I would wear on all terrains. The honeymoon is over and unfortunately I must part with the Clifton line. The drop on the 10's is just not reasonable. It is extremely noticeable and not welcomed. The higher the mileage the worse it gets. Luckily there have been some new options out there and I have moved in. Hoka - fix what you broke.
Disappointed with ChangesReally enjoyed the Clifton 9 because of the lower drop and had 9 pairs. However, when I tried these I have started to have injury issues because of the higher drop. It's really disappointing that one of the few brands with lower drop daily trainers has started to move away from that to be the same as every other brand.
FinallyThis shoe is perfect now. A normal drop, none of this calf burning, low drop fake news. The most cushion in a lightweight daily trainer. I love that this thing packs so much cushion in a 9-ounce package. So much versatility... Recovery runs, moderate runs, strides, long runs, such a renaissance shoe. Other brands need to learn from this shoe.
What Happened to Hoka?I have been wearing Hokas since the Clifton 1 appeared more than 10 years ago. Hoka boasted of the light weight to cushion ratio as well as the "rockered system" that would ensure a smooth foot strike ahead of the heel. The current Clifton 10 has none of these attributes. It lacks a rocker for a smooth transition along with its 5mm drop (now 8), has gained significant weight, and has lost any energy return that it once had. Frankly, the Clifton 10 is just one of the many shoes that are now offered by many companies to absorb shock. It has lost its individuality as has the company.
Best update yet!I got the new Hoka Clifton and I am so happy with the update I ordered another one for work. I have been a clifton lover since the original OG clifton. Many changes over the year and this one is great! Cushion is soft but also has a fun responsive side. Forefoot is plenty roomy even for me to add a insole. Upper is comfortable and breathable. I feel more of a rocker in the Clifton 10 vs the older Clifton 9. This is the baby brother to the bondi. Both the Bondi and Clifton have been added to my training line up. I am currently injured and these will not only help me heal, but help me plan to get back to running comfortably again.
