Product Details:

When your running route takes you from the road to the trails, the HOKA Challenger 7 GTX will assist in making that adventure a smooth and dry one. Highlighting this shoe is the GORE-TEX Invisible Fit technology that directly bonds GORE-TEX membrane to the upper to create a lightweight and protective shield against the elements. Thanks to the increased stack height from previous models and the soft CMEVA foam in the midsole, runners will experience a plush landing mile after mile. The strategically placed lugs and the proprietary rubber in the outsole work together to provide excellent traction on singletrack trails and fireroads without sacrificing a smooth ride on paved surfaces. When the weather starts to turn and you're not exactly sure where or how far your run will take you, the Challenger 7 GTX is a do-it-all shoe that is ready for the call.

StiffFor some reason the sole is stiff as a board. I tried "breakin it in" after a few uses by bending it (which is not easy). My feet hurt after each run because of it.

Very comfortableHands down the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. The gortex really makes a difference on the various trails I have taken them on for comfort and staying dry!

Best sneaker ever!!!!!!!Long story short, I’m a High School and college football official. I can do up to 6 games in a week and last year I ended up with Planter fasciitis from bad shoes. This year I tried 3 different brands before a therapist recommended I try the Hoka so I bought the Hoka challenger Gortex trail shoe(water resistance )and I’m happy to say that this shoe has unbelievable support and comfort and no issues with my Fasciitis at all. Highly recommend it to anyone on their feet for long duration!!!!!!!!!!!

Delivers what I wantedI do a lot of trail running and this summer have a lot of competitive events lined up (usual races and 1 ultra). The worst thing that can happen for me in a trail run is rain or water soaked feet. Their are about 3 different models of trail shoes I love but unfortunately none of them have a waterproof or Gortex offering. My needs in a trail shoe are 1. They have to be comfortable for long runs 2. Feel stable underfoot (any feel of wobbliness or feel of ankle twisting then I eliminate consideration for the shoe 3. Wide midsole and a midsole in which the foot sits into, not on top of 4. I actually prefer the less aggressive tread even for technical trails however, I do want a outsole that is "sticky". 5. Having Gortex is great, but finding a Gortex shoe with the first 4 desires is almost impossible for me to find. That being said, the best available option for me at this time is the Hoka Challenger 7 GTX. I tried the Speed Goat GTX, and they seemed OK at first, but I always had a sensation that if I hit a groove in just the wrong kind of way, my ankle would role. The Nike Pegasus 4 Trail GTX are a great shoe, but after 2 pair this shoe still has some serious quality issues (if basic quality issues are resolved, - like premature tears in uppers after a short amount of miles, glue not holding, etc) then this shoe is definitely the shoe I would use. So far after 10 miles the Hoka Challenger 7 GTX are doing great. The shoe is much better looking live than in pictures, the quality is solid. It has most of what I want. 2 things I find that are lacking are: 1. The front of the shoe is very tight. I think the first time I run more than 20 miles I will have to bring a contingency pair of running shoes as I am not sure that a snug feel after 10 miles will turn into a painful blistering/bleeding hot spot after 30. 2. The plushness of the shoe lacks. The comfort is fine, but not as much as I want. It remains to be seen if this shoe will provide enough comfort for long trail runs.
