They're a staple in every runner's closet. If you're newer to running shoes, you can confidently start your journey here.

  • Performance TrainersPerformance Trainers

Performance trainers (or "super trainers") blend elements of daily trainers and super shoes, often giving you the benefits of advanced foams and plates while being adapted for daily training. They make fast runs faster and long runs easier. Their high versatility also makes them great choices as accessible racing shoes.

  • Super ShoesSuper Shoes

Often built with carbon-fiber plates and cutting-edge superfoams for the highest energy return, they're made for ultimate racing speed.

Designed for use in muddy, soggy conditions, these shoes feature very aggressive outsoles that dig deep into soft ground for exceptional traction.

Cushioning Level

  • Cushioning level, or stack height, refers to how much shoe is between your foot and the ground. For this category, we reference the amount of cushioning below the forefoot as the heel height will be equal to or greater than the forefoot height.
Learn more about stack heights and how we measure them.

  • Barefoot

0-13mm. The Shoe generally does not have a midsole and feels like there is no cushioning. This shoe is all about feeling the ground underfoot.

  • Minimal

14-18mm. The shoe has a thin midsole that allows for a natural running experience. Racing shoes and minimalist shoes are common here. These shoes offer a feeling of being connected to the road or trail.

  • Low

19-23mm. The shoe has a slightly cushioned feel and may feature added cushioning technologies. Performance training shoes and some trail shoes are common here. These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience.

  • Medium

24-28mm. These shoes have a stack height that fall near the middle of the spectrum. The shoes in this category are verstaile and great for all types of runs and distances.

  • High

29-34mm. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. These shoes are highly protective and absorb more impact than the body.

  • Maximal

35mm plus. The shoe has an extremely thick midsole and extra cushioning. The focus is on protection and soft foam underfoot with hardly any ground feel.

Stability Level

  • Neutral Running Shoes

Neutral shoes support the foot through a normal range of arch collapse and generally do not have built-in technology to correct movement.

  • Stability Running Shoes

Stability shoes are a great option for those who overpronate or need added support. These shoes help to limit the inward rolling motion of the ankle while running or walking and assist in guiding the foot straight through the gait cycle.

How We Measure Our Shoe Specs

  • We measure every shoe in-house to provide accurate and consistent details.

  • Weight

The weight is based on a Men's size 9 for Men's and Unisex shoes or Women's size 8 for Women's shoes. The weight listed is for a single shoe, including the laces.

  • Heel Stack

The heel stack refers to how high your heel sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Forefoot Stack

Forefoot stack refers to how high the ball of the foot sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Heel-toe Offset

Heel-toe offset (drop) is the difference in height between the heel stack and the forefoot stack. We use the number given to us by the brand.

How We Measure Shoe Fit

  • All measurements are based on Medium width.

  • Fit (width) options are Narrow - Snug - Average - Roomy - Wide.

  • Sizing (length) options are Short - True - Long. Note: fit is relative to the "average" running shoe.

  • We partner with SmartLast, a program by Heeluxe, to use advanced shoe-measuring technology, to provide objective measurements for toe box, midfoot, and heel widths as well as overall length.

Extremely Comfortable and StableAs a track and field athlete I find this shoe very pleasant for warming up and for morning runs. Being a 400m hurdler and 110m hurdler, with jump training in my week plan, I find these shoes very stable. If you are an athlete that is suffering with Shin Splints well this is the shoes for you.

AlmostSame exact size as V4 yet the toe box is tight. Toes hurt by the end of a run. Cushioning is so good I am hoping either shoe expands or foot developes protective calluses. That's how good the Cushioning is that I will try to acclimate to a crowded toe box.

Lot's of CushionThis shoe is a great everyday walking and "On-your-feet" all day addition. For running it's a bit spongy with all the cushion but is a great choice if you sometimes have knee issues like I do.

Running on PillowsI would recommend this shoe for recovery days after hard track work. Your legs will not feel any pounding. My only complaint is they are on the heavier side but it is worth the recovery benefit.

Loving it!I use this when recovering from a long run or if I planned on walking around the whole day! Great cushion to your feet. A bit chunky but it pairs well when wearing shorts. I got the white, and it pairs to almost anything in my closet!

Great shoe... It doesn't work for me though.I like a snug, race-style fit. Even in cushioned shoes. I'm somewhere between a 10.5 and a men's 11. Usually, when an 11 is a snug fit it's usually perfect for me but this shoe is snug with a short toebox and a narrow midfoot. I've never once worn an 11.5 or a wide but I'm already fighting the heel lockdown (fighting is dramatic, it's locked down but it took some tightness on the laces- I did not experience blisters due to heel slippage). I wanted to love this shoe. I've started runs in this shoe that feel fantastic. Good bounce, great rocker, more fun to run in than you'd think but really just gave me horrible blisters. Many shoes start out by giving me blisters and I end up building up a callus, rework the lockdown, or require some band-aid assistance. I'm a nurse that used the A1 grade hospital band-aid-foams that we cover pressure ulcers with and it still didn't help these shoes. They're great. They're going to work for someone... But they really just can't for me. The bummer is that the initial feel is so good but the short and narrow toebox has made these shoes impossible to work with. Unfortunately it's a waste of cash for me but might be good for you.

Asics Glideride MaxNew Balance has been putting out some good shoes the last few years, but unfortunately some of their updates fall short of the previous model. I found this is true with the NB Fresh Foam More 5. They said they added more cushion, but the version 4 seems more cushioned to me. They also have made the shoe more narrow with version 5. I found the version 4 in size 10 1/2 2E a better fit and softer than the 11 1/2 2E that I'm presently wearing. I am making the v5 work though but have considered the 4 E may have fit better. No consistency with the shoe companies.

My new favoriteWhat I look for most in a walking shoe is plush cushioning. For the past 5 years or so, I've favored the Hoka Bondi (originally Bondi 6, then 7, and most recently 8). But after reading reviews of the NB Fresh Foam X More v5, I thought I'd give it a try. I'm pleased to report that it is significantly plusher than the Bondi. It is a pleasure to walk in these shoes. The cushioning provides a comfortable bounce, softening the impact on my feet and making my walks less tiring. I enjoy the cloud-like feel even without the provided insoles, which I must remove to make room for my custom orthotics. I'm so glad that NB offers this new model in my size (13 EEEE). I'm a bit sad to say goodbye to Bondi, but More v5 is my new favorite shoe!

Lots of Cushion butVery good cushion and excellent rocker. I bought 4E because of a custom orthotic but to my surprise the volume of the shoe is tight compared to other max shoes. If the toe box had more depth, it would be perfect. Just did not work out for me

Really nice! The cushioning on these is great. I’m returning from a knee injury and when I wear these I feel little to no pain. Really nice for long, slow runs. For comparison in another max cushioned shoe, I have the Brooks Ghost Max 2, and these are maybe a little more cushioned, although the Ghost Max 2 maybe has better energy return. I did have to return the first pair I got and exchange for a half a size up from the size I normally wear because I found the toe box to be narrow. Overall, a great shoe.

More v5Far more comfortable than the v4 but I the deck height in the toe box is less than the v4. I compared the v4 VS the v5 and I can see the difference. The v4 has more height from where the foam meets the upper mesh to the top of the toe box. If that makes sense. My right foot is having issues with tightness. May maybe returning for a possibly getting them in wide.

Amazing shoesI trained and ran a marathon in them. Finally purchased my second pair a yr later. About 500 running miles and many more walking miles on them. Best shoes I’ve ever had from someone who’s had a ton of foot issues including many bouts with plantar.

Love but narrowI absolutely love the soft yet responsive cushioning the more V5 offers. It does seems to be narrow in the forefoot. I love the shoes so much, but have received a blister on the side of my big toe each run over 8 miles. I do add orthotic, but have a fairly narrow foot. I reordered a wide and think it will do the trick. I prefer this shoe over a clifton or bondi!

More V5 -- After 80 miles Stll GreatI am now approaching one month into using the More V5 and the shoe is still working great for me. I use it for walking and it continues to be very comfortable. I rotate this shoe with the Bondi 8. While the Bondi 8 is beginning to show wear in the heel on the lateral sides of both shoes after the same number of miles, the More V5 is not showing any wear. Right now, the More V5 appears to be more durable than the Bondi 8.

It's a Miracle !Finally New Balance made a shoe that is more comfortable than any Skechers Performance Shoes. I walked 3 miles and no problems. Walked on cement, asphalt, linoleum, carpeting, and even carpeted stairs. Fit perfect, not snug, not loose, plenty of toe room. No heel slippage. 220 lbs., size 13 M. Very comfortable used for walking a lot.

More V5 -- Great ShoeI have walked 20 miles in this shoe during my 1st week. So far, I only have very positive things to report. I previously owned the More V3 and More V4 and didn't like them. The tongue on these older More shoes were not good. The More V5 doesn't have this problem. The tongue is gusseted and is padded and feels great!. The shoes are very comfortable with zero break-in period. I have been wearing the Bondi 8 for a few years. So far, the More V5 is more comfortable than the Bondi 8. Also, the Bondi 8 was not very durable for me. I am hoping that the More V5 will be more durable than the Bondi.

tall...wide....soft....Always curious about how some road shoes will handle trails. More 3 road was my favorite for trail running. For this More 5 shoe, nice construction for the price....best heel compartment in the business.... performance medium width toe box..... tongue is padded and doesn't migrate at all..... easy to lace up and achieve nice secure foot hold....for the midsole stack, it's quite flexible in toe box and length twist. The Fresh Foam is soft and bouncy, and it was amusing for 15 to 30 minutes, then I thought the shoe was like marsh mellows. My body weight is 155 lbs and on any degree of downhill if I was heel striking with a 8 to 9 min pace, I was feeling a minor thud-bottoming out as I landed - even with this much foam. Also, because of the stack and softness, shoe requires a lot of micro foot and leg micro muscle adjustments to maintain a sense of stability. The shoe slides on sloped dirt. I would say, no trails, easy paces, and this shoe will isolate you from terra firma.
