great sole, but the upper doesn't work for meI loved the NB Fuel Cell Elite v2 and ran through two pairs. The v3 had an awful seam on the collar that tore up my foot. I found the v4 to be an improvement, but still not quite right for me. The sole on the v4 is excellent: great cushioning, but also very responsive and stable. They feel really fast, and also comfortable for 10K through marathon pacing. My main problem is the upper comes up too high around the ankle, so that the collar is rubbing the bottom of my ankle bones. I use the NB Rebel v4 and Super Comp Trainer v3 for training. Both have the Fantomfit upper technology similar to the Elite, but I don't have the same issues with those. I had to go to another brand for my race-day shoe. I'm hoping that the Elite v5 will have the same great sole, but with an upper that works better for me.

Perfect Racing Shoe for Wide FeetThis shoe might be the only one that can actually accommodate different kinds of wide feet. Really like how I can put it on and just hit those consistent pace during a marathon/half marathon race. Haven't tried it for the 5k/10k. If you have a 2e width foot like me, you should try the standard width first to get more snug fit. I felt like the 2e width version was a little too wide and probably suits 3e/4e width foots instead.

My all time favorite shoeIf I could only have one shoe this would be it. You can go fast or slow with this shoe. It's comfortable like a trainer, and doesn't beat up your body from being harsh or overly aggressive. It's a very understated racer, that can do far more than just go fast. I'm on my 3rd pair since they were released. I have fussy feet that don't like a lot of arch support etc and these don't bother my feet at all, which says a lot

New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite v4 WomenI am a bit disappointed in this version. It is a bit too stiff for my liking. I really loved the cushion of the prevoius version of this shoe. This version doesn't give as much bounce or return. I wanted to return after my first short run in them but felt maybe I need to try it a few more runs. I still do not like them. I prefer my older versions of this shoe.

Comfy fast cruisingI got these after I burned through a pair of carbon plate shoes that rhyme with Hike Lye! Those, too, were great, but not durable. These I have logged 30 miles in thus far and they’re holding up. The others got less than 200 miles. These are not quite as responsive but they are really comfortable. I have done a half marathon, a few long runs of 7-8 miles and a 5K. Set a PR for the 10K and really felt comfortable in them. I do wish they maybe had a little more padding around the heel, not cause they’re uncomfortable, they’re not, I am just unstable and this would help hold me in place a little more. I anticipate getting easily 300 miles out of these.

Fast shoeWore this shoe for my most recent marathon. I'm a ~3:30 marathoner with a history of IT band/hip issues. I typically run in Brooks Hyperion Max or Levitate and mixed in the NB Supercomp trainer as well during training. When I started looking for a marathon shoe, I tried many, but I liked this one best. Its a hunk of shoe (read: bulky) under foot but incredible light. It feels like miles go by quicker in this shoe. Its got a nice light upper. I had no issues with lace bite as I have in some low profile tongues. Feet felt good after 26.2 miles.

Great shoe! Finally a racer that comes in 2E!FINALLY! A Plated full Peba option that comes in 2E! Thank you New Balance for being inclusive of us wide footers with your super shoe. This shoe is fast and comfortable. Definitely gives you a bit of an edge in your faster paces. Cyber jade colorway is a little weird, but for the performance and wide option, color is not important.

Misunderstood Super ShoeI got these shoes, because it's the only thing that comes in a 2e wide and fits my 2e/3e width feet well. I don't agree with the claim that these shoes aren't fast feeling, and there are faster options out there. It's definitely a very comfortable, relaxed feeling race day shoe, but it helped me comfortably maintain my target race paces. I would compare these shoes to German sporty cars that were designed to be comfort and go comfortably fast on the autobahn. If you're looking for a shoe to help you maintain those target paces, then you should give these a try. Plus they come in a 2e size as well.

Versatile shoe 5k up to marathon (wide feet)I was looking for a half marathon shoe with extra wide availability. This shoe has been perfect for that. I’ve done mile speed up to marathon pace in this shoe. I think its sweet spot is the half marathon to marathon. 5ks and 10ks are fine but I choose the Saucony Endorphin Elite for 5ks. The NB SC Elite V4 is a more comfortable option for half marathon to marathon distances with good pop in the carbon plate. I think there are less comfortable but more poppy options for the 10k on down. I do love the NB SC Elite V4 for how I use it. I have 10k, 10 mile, 1/2 marathon, and 20 mile PRs in the shoe. You can use them for easy runs as they start to hit over 50-100 miles and get a new pair for races. I use them for tempos, long runs, and workouts as well. I find for a race I like a newer pair for more pop. Did I mention the extra width availability?!

A wide footers dream come trueThank you New Balance for being the ONLY shoe manufacturer to release a super shoe with an actual 2E option. I struggle to find comfortable running shoes being a wide footers. These shoes are amazingly comfortable for me in 2E and will definitely be my marathon shoe of choice. Amazing pop and fit like a dream. Make my typical zone 3 paces turn into zone 2. Feel great at 8:40 all the way down to 5:00s. Finally a Peba + carbon plate option for true wide footers. Like all super shoes the price is ridiculous, but i’ll cough up the money for a shoe that is this good and fits comfortably.

The best shoe I’ve ever worn.I’m a 65 year old runner who has been running since 1972 at age13. In April this year I ran a half marathon in 1:32:01. I still do sub-20 5K’s. In the 52 years that I have been running I have worn nearly every brand of shoe. The New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite V4 is by far the best cushioned shoe that I have ever worn. They are lightweight, and fast. I have bought three pairs, and am still in the first pair. I wanted to be sure that I can race in this model for a while.

Almost perfectI love nearly everything about this shoe except for how the upper feels at the top when the shoe is tied. I can’t find the right level of tightness without it being too loose or too constrictive and painful. It’s probably more of “me” problem than anything, but I might have to move on from this shoe. Otherwise it’s a great balance of cushioning and propulsion without being too aggressive.

DisappointmentI’ve loved New Balance ever since running in their FuelCell TC model, and have used quite a few of their models for daily mileage and racing. Unfortunately, this shoe did not match up to what I’ve come to love about New Balance over the years. The cushioning and propulsion is excellent, but the shoe misses the mark in every other aspect. The upper is the worst I’ve ever encountered, and it was impossible to lock the shoe down enough for a comfortable ride. The tongue disappears into the shoe, making the laces rest directly on top of your foot. I stopped four times during my first run with them to try fixing the lockdown and lacing issue, and nothing I did helped. The heel of the upper is so loose it rubbed my achilles raw, despite tightening the laces as much as I possibly could while using a runner’s knot. I’m extremely disappointed by this shoe, and returned it after only one long run. Pros: Cushion is extremely comfortable, and there is a seriously energized feel underfoot. The shoe really pops up off the ground and it felt like running on a trampoline. The geometry is good for a midfoot striker like me, but heel strikers should stay away from this shoe. Cons: the upper is horrible, sloppy and impossible to lock down. I used a runner’s knot with the uppermost eyelets as I always do, and had to stop four times the tighten the laces on my first run in them. The tongue is too short when using a runner’s knot, also, as it slides down into the shoe and the laces rest directly on top of your feet. My heel and achilles were rubbed raw by the extremely loose and sloppy fitting upper, and I’ve never returned a shoe more quickly. They were sent back after only one run because I knew the fit and feel were completely unsalvageable. The only reason this gets two stars instead of one is because the cushioning and propulsion are seriously impressive. Unfortunately, the upper and lack of ability to make the shoes fit properly ruin the entirety of the shoe.

Terrible running shoeI have been running and competing all over the US now for 52 years and this is without a doubt the worst running shoe I have ever had on my feet. I never could get a lock down in the shoe , feet just slipping around in it. Got a blister two different times on my right Achilles tendon. But the worst thing is the tongue. What is that ? It’s just a thin piece of cloth that is way too short and kept sliding down on the top of both my feet, then I could feel the laces trying to cut into my feet. For the price of this shoe I sure was expecting something totally different.

Elite V4I ordered the women's shoe cos the upper was very sloppy in the men's version..it is better than the men's but still has the same issues..the cushioning is much like V3 and while it doesn't bottom out as bad as V3 it saps the energy from running on it..the upper is too hot and my feet don't like that feeling of being in a oven..this is from running in the winter so pretty sure it won't work for summer..I do not like the plastic uppers of any brand..only the nike alphafly has a good upper..I would say it's a great shoe for most runners and I would recommend it, but watch the sizing..

NB Elite disappointmentI think NB fuel cell is great, and super comp trainer V1 is my favorite NB shoe, but unfortunately they are no longer making it. The Super comp elite V 3 was a big disappointment ( had to return that one), and while V 4 has made progress in comparison, it is still not where it should be as an elite running shoe, in my opinion. I can't get a good lock down, and I find my self having to work harder to run faster in these shoes . They feel heavy and the 4mm drop does not work for me. These shoes are simply not worth the price. I find the Saucony Pro and Speed running shoes a much better alternative on many measures.

Incredible ShoeIncredible stability and performance. Ran my first sub 3 hour in these shoes. Unfortunately they rubbed the skin off my heels (with full length socks) but that shouldn’t happen to everyone.

Nice SurpriseI’ve been running in the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 and decided to switch things up after reading some positive reviews of the NB plated shoe. Did 2 runs, 7 and 8 mi tempo pace, and this shoe felt really good. Nice cushion, a rocking that propels you forward, very comfortable overall. I’ve always liked the NB brand and this didn’t disappoint.

Foam GlidersI’m not a super shoe guru, but I have had my share of alphaflys and they don’t even compare to these supercomps. I ran a half marathon at 6:30 pace and my stride was smooth and just felt like I was gliding along. Not a single issue with my feet and that is huge! I’m 6’3” 205lbs so cushion is needed for the longer runs and these just blew me away with comfort and speed. I never really had the desire to try New Balances in running, but I’m glad these caught my attention and I made the move. The only thing I’m hoping is I get more miles out of these than I did in my alphaflys. We shall see since I’m currently at 18 miles in these.

Long AwaitedI have waited a couple years for a super shoe that has a 2E option, 4mm drop, stable to handle a marathon, and a Peba midsole. It feels like a solid daily trainer with race day performance. My first run was 14 miles at an easy pace and I was running 30 seconds faster per mile at my easy pace heart rate. It handled my marathon pace of 9 min/mile very well. It felt fast down to my 5 k pace of 7 min/miles. My legs felt less fatigued after the run. It feels like a more comfortable Alphafly V1 because of the low drop which I enjoy. The main issue for me was getting a good lockdown without heel rubbing or lace bite. How I solved it was putting on adhesive heel grip pads and tongue pads and laces that are wider. I no longer had heel slip or lace bite. It felt worth doing all the hacks because the rest of the package is just what I want for my upcoming marathon. So many other super shoes are too high drop for my knees and too narrow in the heel which causes instability. This shoe is my go to racer now.

Good alternative to Endorphin Pro 3I was looking for a cushy carbon plated alternative to the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 as with the Pro 4 coming out (that I hear mixed reviews on), the Pro 3 will sadly end up getting discontinued at some point. These are a little heavier on paper than the Pro 3s but I didn't notice the weight while running. They seem a little unstable for tight turns but otherwise are responsive and lockdown was good for me. For reference I run 70-80 miles per week and am a 3:30 marathoner.

Impressive ShoeI’ve been running solely in Vaporfly’s and Alphafly’s over the last 4 years. I’m a 2:55 marathoner and log nearly 3,000 miles a year. I just ran a 14 mile long run with a 5 mile tempo in low 6:00 pace range. The v4 is totally different than past versions. I would compare it more to an Alphafly but more comfortable. This shoe feels very cushioned but is very responsive. There is plenty of room in the toe box. It feels more stable than the Nike’s and at the same time more forgiving when the pace slows down. Overall effort felt less in these shoes. NB finally seems to finally produce a shoe I would race in over Nike’s.
