The Nike Pegasus line has been a staple within the running community as a highly versatile training shoe favored by everyone from the most seasoned athletes to the weekend warriors. In the 40th iteration, the Nike Pegasus 40 maintains the same midsole and outsole tooling that its fans have come to love. REACT Foam is used through the midsole to provide soft cushioning that's still responsive when you want to pick up the pace. In addition, Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel create a bouncy and fun ride.
For long-lasting durability, blown rubber is used in the outsole and utilizes a waffle pattern that offers exceptional traction on all road surfaces. Did Nike makes changes to this model?I've worn about 20 pair of Nike Pegasus in 8.5, and these were the first pair that feel a little too long, the shoelaces are really long and unruly, and I get hotspots on the balls of my feet. Did Nike make changes to this 40 model?
Nike improving but...Nike shoe are getting better but still lack support I'm looking for. These feel twisty / floppy to me after 10 miles. They seem to be wearing well so hopefully I'll get some good miles in them.
The GOAT of workout shoes.The Peg 40 is a super daily trainer and great for my long runs. Feels great and has a good sole life. The EK model looks super cool and pays respect to the greatest of them all.
Nike Pegasus 40 impressionThe Nike Pegasus 40 has an overall similar feel under foot to the version 39 (and other more recent iterations of the Pegasus). The upper is slightly different than the 39 which to me seems to do a better job with the lacing. The Pegasus on the whole remains my gold standard for a daily running shoe. These shoes are the ones I go to whenever I'm looking for a quality shoe I can trust for just about any run. I'll do easy runs, long runs, quicker paced efforts, and trail running at times. There are some shoes that are a little lighter, quicker, or more specialized for certain type of runs or terrain but I've yet to find another shoe that is as good of an all-around shoe as the Pegasus. The version 40 of it continues that trend.

Typical PegasusGreat running shoes but 39 model was more comfortable.
Great shoe, inconsistent qualityI love this shoe. I switched from Escalante Racers to Pegasus 40. I found a perfect pair and have been searching for another one. I have noticed inconsistent quality in them. The ride is amazing and the upper is great. I ordered a half size up. I have been running in Altras for years and it took about a week for me body to adjust. I tried the 39’s and the 40’s are way better in my opinion. I’m running my next marathon in these.
Nike PegasusI ordered a 7.5, just like my previous pair, however these run much larger. I will have to order a size 7 to see if this works better.
Caused foot painThe shoe has little to no arch support which caused extreme pain in my arch and inflammation of my plantar fascia. Also the shoe ran very hot and didn’t ventilate well.

Love this shoe (and Running Warehouse!)My high school distance runner son is on his 10th or so pair of Nike Pegasus. He loves the new 40s, and these shoes have served him well for thousands of training miles. At one point last year, I accidentally returned a pair of shoes I'd ordered from Nike.com to Running Warehouse, and Running Warehouse sent them back to me with a note - at no charge! Thank you, RW!
