First pair had a defect; Second pair greatThe first pair I received had a defect that made the shoe one wearable. The red plastic plate on the side of one shoe was deformed causing it to push in to the side of the foot and create a hotspot. The replacement pair I received did not have this issue. The shoe runs true to size, but is definitely narrow in the mid-foot. I had a narrow foot, so this worked out great for me. If you have a wider than average foot, I wouldn't recommend this shoe. There is no way to loosen the laces enough to compensate. The length is true to size. The shoe has ample cushion, but is still responsize.

LightweightThis shoe is a lightweight high performance hiking shoe. I ended up going a 1/2 size bigger than I normally do and it fit perfect. I called running warehouse to help

A Do-it All Trail RunnerThe Salomon Genesis is a fast trail runner suitable for any off-road terrain with its resilient snappy foam and excellent traction. The broad straight last keeps my wide low-arched feet, coupled with accessory naviculars, locked-down and from rolling off the footbed during landings, as I typically do in c-shaped insteps of traditional lasts. The large sidewalls are perfect for my mild pronation while containing my medial and accessory navicular from excessive overhang. I see why the Genesis was deemed best trail shoe of 2024. Just be mindful that the Genesis is without a rock plate. For reference, my road runners are Saucony Tempus and ASICS GT 2000 12 in men’s size 11; the Genesis fits true-to-size.

Best All ArounderThis is the only trail shoe I have used in a long time that leaves little on the table. I have taken it down to 6:XX miles in shorter races and feel very comfortable (as much as you can be) at the end of a recent fifty miler. It’s relatively supportive but feels natural and stable on off trail adventures.

Shoulda tried earlierWhy am I just now trying these??
Probably because I was afraid there wouldn’t be enough rock protection under the forefoot.
But it hits a near perfect sweet spot for me!! These feel like nimble ninja booties with enough protection for distance but enough feel for more confident relaxed downhill running.
The lacing/upper combo is highly adaptable! Ends up being secure and slipper like at the same time.
Very happy I finally got a pair! Please. Please dear Salomon, do not ruin this shoe.

If it fits !Had to send them back. Great shoe but they were too tight for me. On the narrow side. Trying them on I can tell they would be a great trail shoe. Come on Salomon… wider please !

precise, serious, salomonI think this is a shoe which will best fit folks who don't need/want any width issue considerations. The fit is pecise and the material is Matrix.... Matrix kind of conforms with sweat and dirt, but doesn't stretch/give much. Fore-foot flex and shoe length twist is awesome.... very flexible shoe. Treads are perfect for 90% of semi dry trails - off chamber, any uphill grade, dry creeks loaded with misc rocks, etc.... Height of toe box is low.... two front lace eyelets are felt on top of my metatarsal.....and this gets annoying as run goes on. On steeper downhills, the 8mm offset is no fun (in this shoe). Laces held fine and I didn't perceive bite. Cushioning is there, and would probably be considered plush for a Salomon trail shoe. I like the level and type of cush in the Novablast 3TR for comparison. The shoe will not let your foot flail within it......the shoe is rad if your feet agree with it.
