Product Details:
A true marathon racing shoe for the masses, the Salomon S-Lab Spectur has been carefully crafted with one goal in mind: to make a marathon shoe that is going to benefit the majority of runners and not just the sub-elites and professionals. After years of testing in the lab, the S-Lab Spectur is finally ready to make its debut on race day and offer real benefits for runners in the 3:30+ corrals.
Speed, stability, and efficiency is what the S-Lab Spectur embodies, and no area of the shoe captures this philosophy more than in the midsole. The midsole setup is comprised of two layers of foam that sandwich a 3/4 length carbon plate. The top layer of cushioning is made up of energyFOAM+, an all PEBA foam that delivers the ultra-responsive and lightweight ride that every marathoner craves. Meanwhile, the bottom layer features the ultra reliable energyFOAM that not only provides additional cushioning, but also increases stability, which is essential during the later stages of the marathon. Enclosed in between, the carbon energy BLADE complements the layers of foam by adding stability and stiffness. This results in a more economical ride, meaning you can run longer and faster while expending less energy.
Runners will also appreciate the thick rubber placements throughout the outsole of the S-Lab Spectur. The strategic outsole design allows the shoe to last longer than traditional super shoes but still maintains a relatively low weight.
Wrapping up this shoe is the highly breathable, well fitting, and durable upper. Given the fact that this shoe is built to be on the roads for 3:30+ hours on race day, Salomon has put an emphasis on keeping the upper comfortable and has integrated more cushioning and structure throughout the design, specifically in the heel and tongue.
When all of these components come together, runners get a unique and innovative marathon shoe that has been designed to meet the specific needs of almost every marathoner. With the Salomon S-Lab Spectur, it is not just the pros that get to achieve their lifelong marathon dreams.
